Enjoyed this completely!
Revisado: 12-13-23
This book was very well researched and written. It held my interest throughout the entire book. While "The Wager" is still my favorite Grann book, this comes in a very close and tight second place. Highly recommend!

A MUST READ!
Revisado: 10-03-23
Without divulging too much, I have to say that I was dumbfounded by the extent of the murders and how long they continued. If these were Caucasians being murdered, there would have been a manhunt and all law enforcement offices in the county, perhaps even the entire state, would have been involved. I learned of the Reign of Terror recently when the movie was being advertised so I read the book prior to seeing the movie. My heart goes out to the Osage people as well as all Native Americans. I'm so sorry.
The book was well written and the narrators were good.

Historia
J. Robert Oppenheimer was one of the iconic figures of the 20th century, a brilliant physicist who led the effort to build the atomic bomb but later confronted the moral consequences of scientific progress. When he proposed international controls over atomic materials, opposed the development of the hydrogen bomb, and criticized plans for a nuclear war, his ideas were anathema to powerful advocates of a massive nuclear buildup during the anti-Communist hysteria of the early 1950s.

Damn good book!

I saw "Oppenheimer" in IMAX and had to read this book to learn more. I am now so mesmerized with Oppie that I want to visit Olden Manor just to see where he lived.
As for this book...
I understand why this won a Pulitzer Prize. It boggles my mind to think of all the documents that had to be sifted through and put together to tell a story this smoothly. This is a book that should be required reading for anyone who wishes to be a historian. This book is a masterpiece!

Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Excellent and enjoyable

I'd read Eyes of the Dragon and loved it, so I gave this "dark fantasy" a try. I became enthralled with all the characters and had a hard time putting this down. This book was an easy read...very conversational, humor in the right spots, paced well. I'm going to search for more Stephen King books of this genre.

I find that any given religion is real only to those born into it. They are all mythical. The professor did a great job of explaining this.

In humorous chapters like "Buying the Plot" and "Nodding Off," Crystal not only catalogues his physical gripes, but offers a road map to his 77 million fellow baby boomers who are arriving at this milestone age with him. Historia
On Sunday, November 29, 2009, more than 12.5 million families fell in love with the television adaptation of the novel A Dog Named Christmas. Within forty-eight hours after the Hallmark Hall of Fame movie aired, the initial run of twenty thousand DVDs sold out. Two years later, when Christmas with Tucker, the prequel to the McCray family stories, was released, it was described by Dean Koontz as “a perfect Christmas read,” by A. J. Jacobs as “lovely and poignant,” and by Publishers Weekly as “cute, hopeful, and heartwarming.” Now, the much-anticipated third installment, A Christmas Home, will prove to be yet another holiday classic.

Historia
In this heartwarming novel, Greg Kincaid, the best-selling author of A Dog Named Christmas, revisits the early life of one of that book’s protagonists and brings us a holiday tale of redemption, hope, and forgiveness. It’s 1962, and as Christmas approaches so does one of the worst snow and ice storms in Kansas history. Without utilities and emergency services, it is a dangerous time for the residents of Cherokee County. For the McCray family, it is even worse.

I became a Greg Kincaid fan after reading his first dog book "A Dog Named Christmas" - the best dog book I have ever read! Although that is my favorite book about a dog, I still loved this story as well. You can't go wrong with a Greg Kincaid book.
