A perfect light read

My sister recommended this author, and I’ve passed along the same name to friends. Well written, and funny. Really, who can go wrong including a dog.

Not very deep, but good background story on other tasks

The narrators make it sappier than necessary. I wouldn’t buy it but a decent freebie

Historia
Michael Hiebert’s remarkable debut novel tells the riveting story of a small Southern town haunted by tragedy. Abe Teal wasn’t even born when Ruby Mae Vickers went missing twelve years ago. Few people in Alvin, Alabama, talk about the months spent looking for her, or about how Ruby Mae’s lifeless body was finally found beneath a willow tree. Even Abe’s mom, Leah, Alvin’s only detective, has avoided the subject. But now, another girl is missing.

Wonderful mystery, combined with a bit of To Kill a Mockingbird
Revisado: 10-28-22
Written from the viewpoint of the 11 year old son of a single mother, a female police officer working in a small town in Alabama. While investigating the disappearance of two young girls, the story also revolves around her struggles with a 14 yo daughter, with support from her Uncle Henry. Wonderful, believable characters, with excellent narration.

Historia
Newly divorced Dana Stellgarten has always been unfailingly nice—even to telemarketers—but now her patience is wearing thin. Money is tight, her kids are reeling from their dad’s departure, and her goth teenage niece has just landed on her doorstep. As she enters the slipstream of postdivorce romance and is befriended by the town queen bee, Dana finds that the tension between being true to yourself and being liked doesn’t end in middle school—and that sometimes it takes a real friend to help you embrace adulthood in all its flawed complexity.

Historia
In Oregon's timber country, inside a smoky bar, stands proprietor Tory Duncan. Once a hair's breadth from the Miss America crown, she's still just as beautiful and still searching for happiness. Joe Brigham, a forthright and handsome man from a logging family, divorced, and father of one, regards her with a love deep and pure. But trading in her search for an uncertain future, no matter the joy Joe promises to provide, seems more than Tory can afford.

One of my favorite authors. Her awards are well earned, and I’m so happy to find her on audible! Wish there were more than four there.
