Why change the Narrator?
Revisado: 08-10-23
I am really liking this series. Great story. Great characters. Up to this point, minus the mid chapter books, the narrator was wonderful. This new narrator, although not terrible, pales in comparison. All of the male voices sound the same, and she has changed the pronunciation of some of the names. One of them is extremely well known also. Lucien is not pronounced Luke-e-in. Come on! Every time she mispronounces a name, I cringe and pray that the next book has the old narrator back.

Historia
Imagine if you made one little mistake when you were young and were punished for it for the rest of your life. Well, that’s what happened to Lydia (yes, that Lydia, the youngest Bennet sister from Pride and Prejudice), and she’s here to set the record straight. Hold on to your teacups and get ready for sophisticated (and a little bit naughty) hot takes and witty banter that’ll make you laugh—and think. We meet Lydia just as she is denounced by her family, exiled miles from home, and married to the rogue George Wickham, who seems to love all women...except his own wife.

A well written redemption story.
Revisado: 10-28-22
I am an avid Austen fan. I have read each of her books multiple times and listened to them all on audible more than once. I have always craved more and now I've gotten it, and I hope to get even more.
Other reviews criticize the authors writing...I found it delightful. Other reviews were written as if they were personally offended at the attempt to redeem Lydia...I find that narrow-minded. And still others assertain the author failed at the redemption...this is simply not true. If you are perfect, and have never wished for a do over, or to improve on some facet of your character, then you are rare and will probably not appreciate this book after reading Pride and Prejudice. However, if you are the opposite, you will see the value.
I agree with some who state the music was distracting, and the style of music did not fit at all, other than to insinuate turmoil. But I did enjoy the dramatic performance.
The author did a good job of building the changes in the characters and left me feeling really good about the read overall. The only problem was...she left me wanting more.

It was a good try though, and definitely did not ruin the story. On to the next book in this series. I hope it's about Owen and Avery!

I think the author just gave up.
Revisado: 03-09-21
The first 3 books were great and I was so excited to continue with book 4-6, but...With a little less than an hour left, I did not finish this book. I honestly struggled through the last few hours. It was as if the Author grew tired of writing the book and just wanted to end it...terribly. The jump in time towards the end leaves you with questions that aren't answered. the narrator is dry and often sounds as if he didn't read the book before he started the narration. Why switch from Kevin Pierce to this narrator? It muddles the characters and causes confusion that is hard to get over. I would not recommend this book.

On a brisk autumn day, a 13-year-old boy stands on the shores of the gray Atlantic, near a silent amusement park and a fading ocean resort called the Alhambra. The past has driven Jack Sawyer here: His father is gone, his mother is dying, and the world no longer makes sense. But for Jack everything is about to change. I just can't take the narrator.
Revisado: 11-09-20
This is one of my favorite King books. I read the reviews that stated the narrator was breathy and exhibited the wrong emotion. I ignored them. I thought, I can deal with a bad narrator. I have before, if the story was good enough, but this guy, takes the cake. I literally could not do it. I tried slowing the speed down a little, then a lot. I tried the volume and down. Nothing works with this guy. I own the book. Ill just read it again. This performance is getting exchanged. Sorry Frank. You have a great voice for this book, but everyone is right...you're just to breathy and the breathing, doesn't fit the story.

Billy Todd has always been different. Most people called him odd, and those were the nice people. Though he was born with a learning disability, Billy's parents never allowed him to consider himself disabled. Raised to be self-sufficient, Billy might not be as smart as some, but he was a lot smarter than people realized.

Historia
Austen wrote, 'I am going to take a heroine whom no-one but myself will much like' and thus introduces the handsome, clever, rich - and flawed, Emma Woodhouse. Emma is perfectly content with her life and sees no need for either love or marriage; nothing however delights her more than matchmaking her fellow residents of Highbury. But when she ignores the warnings of her good friend Mr. Knightley and attempts to arrange a suitable match for her protegee Harriet Smith, her carefully laid plans soon unravel and have consequences that she never expected.

Great story.
Revisado: 01-31-19
I loved the story. thought provoking and not chaotic like most post apocalyptic stories. celebrates values while showing how hard that can be sometimes. the narrator has a hitch in his speech that is hard to listen to. I found that slowing the speed down a little helped with this...some.
