Great Concepts, But a Bit Long-Winded
Revisado: 12-09-24
I really appreciate the core concepts in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families. It offers valuable insights into building stronger family relationships and provides actionable advice. However, I found the book to be quite long-winded and, frankly, a bit dated in its examples and tone.
I listened to the audiobook, and while the narrator has a calming voice, it almost too calming—it felt like a sleep aid rather than something meant to energize and inspire.
If you’re interested in this content, I’d recommend checking out the Headspace version instead. It’s concise, modern, and gets right to the point, making it much easier to absorb the key takeaways without zoning out.

Historia
There's no shortage of networking and entrepreneurship advice in books and on social media in today's world-but it's harder than ever to know what's authentic. To make matters worse, taking the wrong advice can result in superficial connections, transactional relationships, and unsatisfying interactions with others without any real rapport. Fortunately, as entrepreneur and marketer extraordinaire Joe Polish has discovered, there's a simple (though sometimes not easy) way out that begins with one question: "What's in it for them?"

Historia
Solitary is the unforgettable life story of a man who served more than four decades in solitary confinement - in a six-foot by nine-foot cell, 23 hours a day, in notorious Angola prison in Louisiana - all for a crime he did not commit. That Albert Woodfox survived was, in itself, a feat of extraordinary endurance against the violence and deprivation he faced daily. That he was able to emerge whole from his odyssey within America’s prison and judicial systems is a triumph of the human spirit, and makes his book a clarion call to reform the inhumanity of solitary confinement....

Opens your eyes what people endure. Definitely a great story and whether you agree or disagree just shines the light on much needed prison reform.

At last we see him as he was: protean multitasker, decisive, surprisingly willing to forgive his enemies and his errant wife Josephine.
