an fine but flawed series
Revisado: 12-27-19
i liked these lectures quite a lot. It is quite lot . I quite enjoyed them. I found them quite enjoyable.them. I found disturbing aspect to the series, that lack of discussion Alexander's sledged homo/ bi sexuality. I am not saying was gay and I am not saying thar hw was not. But there is a wide spread belief that he was . I would have at least hace liked a discussion on the matter and the bekieved that he was, was not, why is was not relived to this lecture series,.

I got confused
Revisado: 06-17-19
In many ways theis is a very goodseries of lectures. DonLinclon is a very engaging, funny and personable. But the problem was that much of the time his explanations left me completely in the dark. I believed him but only because I tend to believe scientests to a great degree. I understand scientiific theory in that science never reall proves anything and if an idea can be theoredically dusproven it is not science But I often could not follow his eidence.

Historia
Philosophy begins with questions about the nature of reality and how we should live. These were the concerns of Socrates, who spent his days in the ancient Athenian marketplace asking awkward questions, disconcerting the people he met by showing them how little they genuinely understood. This engaging book introduces the great thinkers in Western philosophy and explores their most compelling ideas about the world and how best to live in it.

Winner of the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for History. In this magisterial biography, T. J. Stiles paints a portrait of Custer both deeply personal and sweeping in scope, proving how much of Custer’s legacy has been ignored. He demolishes Custer’s historical caricature, revealing a volatile, contradictory, intense person - capable yet insecure, intelligent yet bigoted, passionate yet self-destructive, a romantic individualist at odds with the institution of the military (he was court-martialed twice in six years).

Historia
Mesopotamia is the ancient name for the region that is now Iraq, a remarkably advanced civilization that flourished for two-thirds of the time that civilization has existed on Earth. Mesopotamians mastered irrigation agriculture; built the first complex urban societies; developed writing, literature, and law; and united vast regions through warfare and diplomacy. While civilizations like Greece and Rome have an unbroken tradition of written histories, the rich history of Mesopotamia has only been recently rediscovered, thanks to the decipherment of Mesopotamia's cuneiform writing less than 200 years ago.

She interviewed more than a thousand people, and gained access to new data and official records, to write this definitive and vividly dramatic account of how these American journeys unfolded, altering our cities, our country, and ourselves.

8 Good Perspectives

It just scratches the surface.
Revisado: 09-05-18
First a word about me. I do believe thr Jesus did si and he was the son of God, whatever that means. I too am a Christian. It will provide the bullet points for someonr who is convenced of its points but it will not convince someonr unsure rgar Jesus exysted, mich less a secptic Irs arguements are just too shallow, If you make some clains thar you resite to a well wersed sceptic pn the subject the will righgtly laff in your face at your igborance, For instance the book claims the Bart D. Ehrman is a Chrisrian. He is not a Chrisrian, He discribes himself as an agnostic, leaning twards a Athiest. Here are the title of a couple of books he has written: 'God's Problem: The Bible Fails to Answer Our Most Important Question - Why We Suffer' and, ;'How Jesus Became God.' He a,so wrote, "Did Jesus really esxist?" SPOILLER: Bart believes he dud and a good amount of evidebxe to support his claim. That is the book you should read if you want good evidenve that he existed..

The Testament of Mary

Historia
Meryl Streep’s performance of Colm Tóibín's acclaimed portrait of Mary is hailed by the New York Times Book Review as “an ideal audiobook,” presenting the three-time Academy Award-winner in “yet another great role.” Shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize, Colm Tóibín's The Testament of Mary presents Mary as a solitary older woman still seeking to understand the events that become the narrative of the New Testament and the foundation of Christianity. In the ancient town of Ephesus, Mary lives alone, years after her son's crucifixion. She has no interest in collaborating with the authors of the Gospel. They are her keepers, providing her with food and shelter and visiting her regularly. She does not agree that her son is the Son of God; nor that his death was "worth it"; nor that the "group of misfits he gathered around him, men who could not look a woman in the eye," were holy disciples. This woman who we know from centuries of paintings and scripture as the docile, loving, silent, long-suffering, obedient, worshipful mother of Christ becomes a tragic heroine with the relentless eloquence of Electra or Medea or Antigone, in a portrait so vivid and convincing that our image of Mary will be forever transformed.

False Advertising: Plain and Simple
Revisado: 11-22-17
“Morningwood: Everybody lives large Chests” is False Advertising. One is led to believe that you are about to read a sex farse, with a Himmel. Armed as the Main character. The truth is that
The novel, instead is about a monster eating people and getting stronger. The large chest in question is not of a woman’s bosom but rather the main character.. There is not much of a plot, not much of a story. If that sounds like a good book to read buy the book, if not you might give it pass.
The narration is good though.
