Best Kennedy book ever written
Revisado: 05-04-25
This book was completely outstanding. The storytelling, details, insider knowledge, and friendship with the key players is par excellence. The author was an employee of JFK Jr. and a close friend and his chief of staff. Her access was unparalleled. John was an amazing man - more so for his humility, kindness and heart of gold, than his pedigree and movie-star looks. This book looked into the soul of this young man. What a loss for America.

Elizabeth Beller explores the real person behind the tabloid headlines and media frenzy. When she began dating America’s prince, Carolyn was increasingly thrust into an overwhelming spotlight filled with relentless paparazzi who reacted to her reserve with a campaign of harassment and vilification.

A woman of substance
Revisado: 07-29-24
This was a surprisingly interesting book that was hard to put down. Caroline was a unique and complex woman of supreme confidence despite her middle class origins. Her depth, kindness, charm, intellect and empathy was not apparent in Her media portrayal as an icy beauty known for minimalist fashion and stone cold expressions. I don't think their marriage would have survived had they had lived, but theirs was truly a great and passionate love story. Caroline was a private woman like her mother-in-law Jacqueline Kennedy. But Jackie learned how to navigate life in the eye of a media storm. And Caroline never did. It probably would have eventually unraveled their union, but I'm sure they would have been obsessed with each other to the end. Caroline wasn't intimidated by John's fame and fortune - and he loved that. To her he was just a regular guy and he loved that.

Historia
John F. Kennedy said he needed sex every three days or he got a headache. In the White House, he never had a headache. Kennedy met Mary Pinchot in 1935, when he was eighteen and she was sixteen. Twenty years later, when she was living in Virginia and married to Cord Meyer, a high-ranking CIA official, she was Jack and Jackie Kennedy’s next-door neighbor. In 1962, she was an artist, divorced, living in Washington—and Kennedy’s first serious romance. Mary Pinchot Meyer was more than a bedmate. She was Kennedy’s beacon light: his sole female adviser.

The way it really was
Revisado: 05-22-24
John Kennedy and his friend and lover Mary Pinchot Meyer were shot execution style within 10 months of each other. Both cases are essentially unsolved 60 years later. The conspiracy that killed Kennedy was behind Meyers death too; she was collateral damage. Mary. knew too much as a former CIA wife and former journalist. She was piecing together John's murder. This novel humanizes the secret, complex relationship between john and Mary. And it offers a glimpse into the glamorous world of Camelot that Mary experienced as the ultimate "insider". Their mutual vision of world peace angered the military industrial complex and it was a factor in their mutual demise. This novel is very true to life and is fact based.

A shocking expos on the life and death of political peace activist Mary Pinchot Meyer, whose relationship with John F. Kennedy sheds new light on the circumstances surrounding his assassination. Who really murdered Mary Pinchot Meyer in the fall of 1964? Why was there a mad rush by CIA counterintelligence chief James Angleton to immediately locate and confiscate her diary? Meticulous research. Outstanding book
Revisado: 02-09-24
This is one of the best books I have ever read. This story should be a bigger part of history. It untangles the labyrinth of the conspiracy to assassinate JFK. ITS a MIND-blowing tale and sadly - true. More than 100 people were murdered over 20 years who had knowledge of the JFK assassination and coverup. Mary Myers was only one of them.

Diana would have encouraged H&M to leave too.
Revisado: 12-15-23
I read his other Book Endgame and it was better. This was uncomfortably solicitous and gushy to M&H. However - I believe most of the content was accurate. And that M&H got a raw deal and had every reason to leave. A lot of the problems were caused by power hungry, self-important Palace staff and some jealousy of family members.
The family should have done much more to defend them from press attacks. M&H made some minor tactical errors that blew up. But they are good people and didn't deserve the vicious press attacks. American royal Wallis Simpson wasn't treated any better. Nor Princess Diana, Fergie, etc. Royal women are expected to keep theirs mouth shut, don't have opinions, and look gorgeous. Meghan was American, whip-smart, and an actress. They didn't defend her or help her out enough. American women are different. She needed more time to adjust. I don't think the Family was racist because they treated the white females that way too. But the British tabloid media - VERY racist.

It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Williams poor behavior was pretty consistent. Very uneven treatment of the two brothers by the family. Formula for disaster.
Revisado: 11-29-23
Excellent book. Very authentic and truthful. Harry was self deprecating and honest throughout the book. I think he held back more than he shared. Charles loved his darling boy but the whole Windsor family (particularly William) and the courtiers were responsible for losing this asset. They will have a much better life in California.
