Cleared up so much confusion on what actually causes weight gain and how to effectively lose body fat over the long term, without it rebounding later, which is what happens with so many diet fads.

Organized, practical presentation of how to manage your bodies sugar, insulin levels and metabolism for overall health and wellbeing.

The information in this book is so basic it feels more like a personal finance or adulting 101 guide, rather than one oriented towards a solo ager getting ready for the end of life.

Honestly, I’m surprised if a person hasn’t gotten around to figuring out the strategies that the author propose is already by their 40s.

A collection of blog posts turned into a book

The book starts off with the compelling story and then turns into what seems like this book started off as a collection of blog posts. At the end of every chapter, and sometimes in the middle, the author will read out the full URL addresses of the different resources she highlights in that section.

The experience of that on audible is terrible, because you have to listen to author spell out all the WWWs for a list of URLs pertinent to that section which gets pretty tedious.

The print version is probably a much better resource.

It would be a much better book if there was a human story introducing every chapter… Unfortunately, there isn’t much of this.

Adulting 101 for Patriotic Christian, Rural Middle Schooler’s

This book appears to be written for a Christian rural, farming middle school audience by a Captain Obvious 101 who clearly hates the left, based on the unnecessary gratuitous jabs about the left being poorly informed and lazy.

Weirdly, in the middle of basic financial advice about the need to diversify assets into cash and crypto the author decides to make a jab at “lazy liberals” who don’t want to do any work.

As a cash and crypto rich, property-owning not-lazy liberal multicultural tech worker with a Master’s degree, I found this book to be so basic it seemed like it was written for children.

Many of the recommendations I’d already implemented years ago as adulting life skills 101 in an uncertain world. Oh, and through learning radical resilience at Burning Man.

A more realistic title should be titled survival basics in the modern world. Because deep breathing exercises and feeling your emotions aren’t going to help you survive a nuclear war. And don’t eat spoiled food out of a busted tin can. Derp.

Especially if you’re trying to gather drinking water from rain post-nuclear fallout. But hey, at least you’ll have your favorite translation of the Bible with you in your bunker, the power of prayer, and love of country.

Spend your $ on Nuclear War Survival Kobler and Dutra instead.

This audiobook was the straightforward, no BS roadmap I need, not only for myself, but for my aging, stubborn father who refuses to create a will at 81. Not only has the process of trying to urge him why this is important utterly crazy-making, it’s making me think of my own estate planning while i’m still vibrant, clear-minded and smart, as a 50+ solo, child-free only child.

Hopefully the impetus to work on this together will propel some forward motion.

Inspiring Example of an Infomercial Client Lead Magnet

As a multiple six-figure digital entrepreneur, I was hoping that I would get some more insights on how to crack the code to truly passive income online.

Bur if you’re looking for even a roadmap, sadly this book is infomercial fluff, filled with multiple plugs on how much money the author has made plus all of the plugs of her successful client stories exchange for plugs to their website.

As a long time, marketing professional, digital info product, creator, online course launcher, high ticket sales funnel system builder, and aspiring membership builder, that is worked with pretty much every available stream of traffic that can be acquired online…

…I do find the promise put forward about the “passiveness” of the passive income business models that she is claiming is possible is indeed a lot of work for most people.

Sure you can create a course and launch it and then people will buy it for a period of time until the traffic dies down and then there’s a hustle of keeping the traffic flowing so that more purchases are made while you are asleep… the art in mastery of traffic generation is hardly passive.

Even if you’re running ads, it’s a hell of a lot of ad + funnel optimization and testing. Sure I suppose once you grow to be a large enough business where you can have an ad agency running traffic and optimizing your funnels plus a team of people keeping your membership content going, then you can truly work seven hours a week or whatever it is that she actually works.

For many entrepreneurs, it’s a lot of work, leadership upgrades, and operation streamlining to get there.

The chapters are mostly filled with her personal stories (and how much money she made and what little time she made it in) which is know like and trust building, but barely scratch the surface at all of what the chapter titles are all about.

But this Audiobook is a GREAT example on how to create an Amazon publishing lead magnet that you pay for, that fills readers with inspiration and primes readers to want to sign up for her membership program or figure out how to work with her in order to get the same results as she did, as well as her clients.

Lisa Johnson is clearly successful online entrepreneur, and hearing her story is inspiring, even if the promise of this book is simply the shiny tip of an iceberg size journey of mastery.

This book was utterly eye-opening in that I felt like the dirty little secret I was harboring for so many years, entrepreneurial poverty I was experiencing behind the scenes of my outwardly successful business, was, in fact, shared by so many minority business owners, who had even bigger revenues, than I did. even though we had bigger and bigger, marketing, launch campaigns and more and more sales, the complexity of running my online business now required so many people that the profit margin became pitiful.

Even though my marketing mastery was reaching new heights… The thought of having to do an even bigger launch campaign, filled me with dread. I love what I do, but I was starting to hate what it was doing to me.

Hearing all the different stories of the incredible entrepreneurs, supporting their communities, creating jobs and opportunities who still struggled to pay themselves first,“Profit First” accounting is missing piece I’ve been looking for.
