Historia
In my book, you will meet a little girl named Viola who ran from her past until she made a life-changing decision to stop running forever. This is my story, from a crumbling apartment in Central Falls, Rhode Island, to the stage in New York City, and beyond. This is the path I took to finding my purpose but also my voice in a world that didn’t always see me.

Fantastic memoir
Revisado: 05-23-23
This was an absolutely amazing story read by Ms. Viola Davis herself. Reading the paper book was so enjoyable, but listening to Viola tell me her story on the audio narrative was completely captivating! I laughed. I felt like crying. I felt anger and pride and fear. All of those normal human emotions. Amazing life. Amazing story. Amazing narration.

Historia
What would it be like to live in a well-rested world? Far too many of us have claimed productivity as the cornerstone of success. Brainwashed by capitalism, we subject our bodies and minds to work at an unrealistic, damaging, and machine‑level pace—feeding into the same engine that enslaved millions into brutal labor for its own relentless benefit. In Rest Is Resistance, Tricia Hersey, aka the Nap Bishop, casts an illuminating light on our troubled relationship with rest and how to imagine and dream our way to a future where rest is exalted.

Excellent call for self-care
Revisado: 01-22-23
This is an important call to reclaim our rest and rebel against the workaholic culture of our society. We are often abused in our workplaces and sacrifice sleep and rest for “productivity” at work. Yet what do we actually gain in the end? Fatigue and poor health. This was a really compelling call to resist the drive of hustle and grind culture and to reclaim our right to rest.

Bahni Turpin is one of my favorite audio book narrators. I find myself listening to her narration more often than reading the book! She’s a master at bringing stories to life. I enjoyed reading and listening to this fantastic book.

Beautiful narration and storytelling
Revisado: 01-16-22
This story is a beautiful story of resistance and triumph. The voice actor was the perfect person to read this story. The pronunciation of the Yuroban words was beautiful and seamless. I appreciated the way she poured so much richness into how she told the story. I enjoyed this recording greatly.

Historia
Mama Black Widow tells the tragic story of Otis Tilson, a stunning black drag queen trapped in a cruel queer ghetto underworld. In hopes of escaping the racial bigotry andeconomic injustice of the South, Otis' family journeys north from their plantation to an urban promised land. Once in Chicago, Otis and his siblings become prisoners to a wasteland of violence, crime, prostitution, and rape. This is the gut-wrenching tale of the destruction of a family and the truest portrayal of homosexuality in the ghetto ever told.

Historia
When it comes to law and order, East Texas plays by its own rules - a fact that Darren Mathews, a black Texas Ranger, knows all too well. Deeply ambivalent about growing up black in the Lone Star State, he was the first in his family to get as far away from Texas as he could. Until duty called him home. When his allegiance to his roots puts his job in jeopardy, he travels up Highway 59 to the small town of Lark, where two murders - a black lawyer from Chicago and a local white woman - have stirred up a hornet's nest of resentment.

I loved this story because it reminds me of home. Small town Texas. The experiences of many Blacks growing up in small rural towns are similar to those in Bluebird Bluebird. Attica Locke wove a beautiful complex tale!

Excellent story
Revisado: 02-28-18
What made the experience of listening to A House for Happy Mothers the most enjoyable?
I enjoyed the author's narration, accents, vocal prosidy and personalities of each character brought forth by her voice acting. She is an outstanding narrator. She made the story come alive. The voice actor brought out the complexities and nuances within the story, including the complicated relationship that grew between the two lead women characters--Priya and Asha.
What other book might you compare A House for Happy Mothers to and why?
I have not read a book about surrogacy before, so I do not have a book to compare it to based upon the subject matter.
Which scene was your favorite?
There are too many favorite scenes to narrow it down to one. I think listening to Asha's thoughts as she gave birth to the baby she had grown to love but had to give away was particularly poignant.
If you could take any character from A House for Happy Mothers out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Asha.
Any additional comments?

Historia
A resident of one of LA's toughest neighborhoods uses his blistering intellect to solve the crimes the LAPD ignores. East Long Beach. But someone from the neighborhood has taken it upon himself to help solve the cases the police can't or won't touch. They call him IQ. He's a loner and a high school dropout, his unassuming nature disguising a relentless determination and a fierce intelligence.

I have recommended this book to many friends, family and colleagues. I have shared the audiobook with several friends.
What did you like best about this story?
The characters were complex and showed redemptive qualities. The main character developed wonderful integrety.
Have you listened to any of Sullivan Jones’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No I have not. Mr. Jones is a fantastic narrator! In fact, I Tweeted him to let him know how much I enjoyed this reading. I would like to listen to his other work.
