Another great Goldie Story and another great performance by Barbara Rosenblatt, but I have to say in the last few stories, Arch really is a piece of work

Love anything read by Barbara Rosenblatt
Revisado: 04-23-24
I only came across this because I would listen to Barbara Rosenblatt read a phone book. This wasn’t a phone book, but it was close. The story was saccharine and insipid. It also seemed like fern Michaels is a one trick pony when it comes to her novels ( I listened another book by her, also read by BR, and it was much better than whatever this was)
It seems that she has a penchant for doggy romances- woman has a small dog, man has a big dog, dogs get imprinted in each other, the owners must then get together, because you cant separate the dogs.
Also- don’t get me started on the decorating.

Narrator- I give up
Revisado: 08-11-23
I got to chapter 5 and gave up, I’m sure the writing is decent, but I can’t handle the narrator. Pure torture!!!! It’s like listening to an AI narration. Just painful!!!!

Took off a point for the dead horse
Revisado: 08-02-23
The story was adorable, light and entertaining. I enjoyed it and will keep reading. I did take off a point for the over-repetition and the beating of a dead horse with the vegan lifestyle . Seriously, I never knew you could be on a high horse, while beating a dead horse.
Vegan Lifestyle is not that healthy- humans are meant to be omnivores! Our bodies need the nutrients found in meat, fish, eggs, etc. what is UNHEALTHY, is all the sugar she eats.
Regardless, I enjoyed this entertaining book with my beef kabob, eggplant and salad 😂

Historia
Detectives Sloan and Crosby find themselves assigned two rather puzzling cases. First, there's the young woman's body which has been discovered in the River Alm. And then there's the mysterious break-in at the Berebury Nursing Home. To be precise, it's Josephine Short's room at the nursing home that's been entered, although nothing seems to be missing. What could the intruder have been after? It becomes apparent to Sloan and Crosby that the two cases are connected—but who can the killer be?

Good, but predictable
Revisado: 07-21-23
I actually enjoyed this book, and it kept my interest more than some of the other “later installments” from this series. The early ones were excellent, but the later ones tend to be dull and all over the place. This one was good, but I figured out whodunnit early on (and why)😂😂😂

Historia
Tara never imagined her introduction to Ireland like this - carrying her mam's ashes to honor her final request: "Tell Johnny I'm sorry.... Take me home." She's never met her mam's estranged brother, Johnny Meehan, who owns an architectural salvage business in Galway. Although Tara is immediately charmed by the medieval city, the locals seem wary of strangers, and a gypsy warns her that death is all around. When Tara arrives at her uncle's stone cottage, the prophesy seems true. A dead man lies sprawled over the threshold in a pool of blood.

I don’t even know where to start…
Revisado: 07-19-23
Yes - the accent was distracting- and not a New York one, by far ( this is coming from a New Yorker) nor has the author ever been to New York…
Also- I don’t think the author ever spoke to an interior designer in her life- she has the design process all wrong! Find a fabric shop?🤦🏻♀️ canvasses for presentations boards? Even if you still use presentation boards, they would be foam core, not canvas. That whole passage was painful to listen to.
The rest of the story was nearly as painful and dragged out. The characters were prickly and unlikeable, Tara got on my last nerve, and I knew who the killer was early into the story. I rolled my eyes at all the unbelievable interactions. the only reason I finished this, was to see it I was right.

Loved the whole series… but…CHARLIE????
Revisado: 01-22-22
I loved the series, though Alec’s pronouncement of “Great Scott!” is getting a bit old….ok… REALLY OLD!!!!!!! As far as this story goes, it was very good, but the use of the name Charlie really bothered me… it was made very clear in “heirs of the body” that Ben’s brother was named Jacques…. So how is he suddenly names Charlie? These kinds of changes really pull you out of the story and exactly what she criticized in “gone west”… otherwise, it was good

Unfinished audiobook
Revisado: 06-03-21
So first of all, I want to say that I have loved this series since I first discovered it over 25 years ago... I had forgotten the story enough that listening to it was thoroughly enjoyable, as I had forgotten enough of the plot to feel like I was listening fir the first time again ... almost
There were still memories that awakened as I listened on...
So imagine my surprise when the book ended abruptly, without the conclusion that I remembered it to have.... I thought “it has been a long time... maybe it continues in the next installment... so when I started listening to lords of the 7th swarm, the events that I remembered at the end of beyond the gate, had already come to pass. I pulled out my hard copy of the book, and lo and behold an entire chapter is missing at the end of the book. So if you are listening to this, and you don’t know the story, you will be really confused at the beginning of the next one
