what a life
Revisado: 10-30-22
Shatner lets us see into his mind, his soul and passions. He is candid about his own failures. I don't think I ever heard a story of someone who took the bull my the horns as much as he did (does, at 91!). It was a long way from "Mr. tambourine man" on johnny Carson to a standing ovation at the Kennedy center. Well done.

This provides clear thinking on a hyper-charged issue.

Historia
Few novels have had as profound an impact on American culture as On the Road. Pulsating with the rhythms of 1950s underground America, jazz, sex, illicit drugs, and the mystery and promise of the open road, Kerouac’s classic novel of freedom and longing defined what it meant to be “beat” and has inspired generations of writers, musicians, artists, poets, and seekers who cite their discovery of the book as the event that “set them free”.

A Franklin planner for your retirement
Revisado: 10-04-21
Useful stuff, but I kinda felt like I was back in Franklin planner training in 1986 all over again. I picture Hyrum Smith going around in 2018 with a paper planner mapping out his day, this book and his life.
In a nutshell, "figure out what matters to you, make checklists, and do it". I'm a checklist kind of guy, so it resonates with me. I get a sense of accomplishment from doing things. Other people have different motivations.
like I said, some good stuff in here, if a bit dated and presented as bromides and cliches. I'm going to make a second pass and ...make checklists :-)

Historia
Hiking with Nietzsche is a tale of two philosophical journeys - one made by John Kaag as an introspective young man of 19, the other 17 years later and in quite different circumstances: as a husband and father. Both journeys are made in search of the wisdom at the core of Nietzsche's philosophy, but they deliver him to radically different interpretations and, more crucially, revelations about the human condition.

I hike. Your mind wanders when you hike. "trail thoughts". Nietche knew this, or rather lived it.
For me, this was an introduction to his thought (and Herman Hesse) in an accessible way I could relate to.

Professors Cook and Herzman provide you with an illuminating introduction to one of the greatest works ever written. One of the most profound and satisfying of all poems, The Divine Comedy (or Commedia) of Dante Alighieri is a book for life. In a brilliantly constructed narrative of his imaginary guided pilgrimage through the three realms of the Christian afterlife, Dante accomplished a literary task of astonishing complexity. In these twenty-four lectures, as you follow Dante on his journey, you'll learn how medieval literature offers insights into fundamental questions.
