This is just a sweet story about the struggles of life in Ireland in the 1980s. The wealthy can choose to help other. The poor can choose to help others.

Historia
This is Kazuo Ishiguro's profoundly compelling portrait of a butler named Stevens. Stevens, at the end of three decades of service at Darlington Hall, spending a day on a country drive, embarks as well on a journey through the past in an effort to reassure himself that he has served humanity by serving the "great gentleman," Lord Darlington. But lurking in his memory are doubts about the true nature of Lord Darlington's "greatness," and much graver doubts about the nature of his own life.

Historia
What does it mean to "think Orthodox"? What are the unspoken and unexplored premises and presumptions underlying what Christians believe? Orthodox Christianity is based on preserving the mind of the early Church, its phronema. Dr. Jeannie Constantinou brings her more than 40 years' experience as a professor, Bible teacher, and speaker to bear in explaining what the Orthodox phronema is, how it can be acquired, and how that phronema is expressed in true Orthodox theology.

Most thankful
Revisado: 04-13-23
The thing I am most thankful for in the Orthodox Christian Church is the phronima. The thing so hard to truly describe that shapes the whole family.
This is a great book. I love all the work the author puts out. Looking forward to a second listen and future titles.
A note on reading: the author reads slowly, but sped up to 1.3, it is perfect.

No PDFs?
Revisado: 02-04-23
This is a good book, especially for someone who is still working on healing through their diet. Why is there no pdf? The lists and recipes are needed in printed form.
I also wish the authors could have done the reading. This reader is not terrible, but she is a little robotic.

Historia
For many women, having a baby girl is a dream come true. But as girls grow up, the narrative of innocence and joy changes to one of dread as moms are told, "Just wait until she's a teenager!" Author, blogger, and mom to four daughters Kari Kampakis thinks it's time to change the narrative that leads moms to parent teen girls with a spirit of defeat instead of strength. Love Her Well isn't a guide to help mothers "fix" their daughters or make them behave. It's about a mom's journey, doing the heart-work necessary to love a teenager while still being a steady, supportive parent.

This is a book I will relisten and gain healing from. Teens are difficult to understand. So this book gave me good reason to hope and smile because my daughter is a joy. Thanks!

This memoir is laced with wonderful stories about the French character, particularly in the world of food, and the way of life that Julia Child embraced so wholeheartedly. Above all, she reveals the kind of spirit and determination, the sheer love of cooking, and the drive to share that with her fellow Americans that made her the extraordinary success she became.

Historia
Dating to the ninth century BC, Homer’s timeless poem still vividly conveys the horror and heroism of men and gods wrestling with towering emotions and battling amidst devastation and destruction, as it moves inexorably to the wrenching, tragic conclusion of the Trojan War. Renowned classicist Bernard Knox observes in his superb Introduction that although the violence of the Iliad is grim and relentless, it coexists with both images of civilized life and a poignant yearning for peace.

Bought this to help with a high school class. Unhappy with the abridged text. Why list it as unabridged? Very disappointed.
