Historia
Knocking on the front door, clutching my son Noah’s small hand, my heart is beating fast. When my foster mother sees me, her hands fly to her mouth in disbelief and she pulls us inside, asking the question I don’t want to answer: Why have you come back? Soon the whole town is whispering about my miraculous return, fifteen years after I vanished in the middle of the night. But not everyone is happy to see me. My oldest friend thinks I’m keeping secrets, and they aren’t wrong. We were seen arguing the night I returned. And then my friend is found dead.

Good Story Line
Revisado: 12-24-24
I think this was a good storyline. The narrator had a pleasant voice. However, her phrasing and the way she would pause for way too long at phrase points was very distracting.

Good Storyline, Bland Narration
Revisado: 11-01-24
With several female characters, the narrator did not vary her voice, or personality at all making it extremely difficult to listen to and follow which character was speaking. It kind of ruined it.

Suspenseful, But Disappointed with Ending
Revisado: 10-09-24
I really enjoyed this until the end. Spoiler alert; the ending reminded me of when I taught students to write and they would have a great story going and lose stream and end it with, and “I woke up and it was all a dream.” That is what this ending felt like. I would have preferred a supernatural twist, not a crazy person.

Should Have Ended Sooner
Revisado: 10-06-24
Intriguing storyline at first, but it’s as if the author did not want to be finished. Missing, assumed dead second husband reappears, we discover who was behind his disappearance, but then he’s back in her life and she needs to get away from him anyway. Meandering plot ended with needless 22 min life update on the perfection of being old, having money, and desired by young men craving sexual experiences with older woman.

Had Potential, Fell Flat

Boring story. The wrap up was too cliche-suddenly-happily-ever-after.

Historia
Patric Gagne realized she made others uncomfortable before she started kindergarten. Something about her caused people to react in a way she didn’t understand. She suspected it was because she didn’t feel things the way other kids did. Emotions like fear, guilt, and empathy eluded her. For the most part, she felt nothing. And she didn’t like the way that “nothing” felt.

Disturbing and Questionable
Revisado: 07-22-24
I found the constant pride of self-diagnosed sociopathy more reminiscent of a narcissist. ESP considering how everyone she encounters is an idiot compared to her. I cannot imagine someone seeking help and being steered in the right direction.
As for questionable? A self-proclaimed liar…hm

Helpful , Wish More Examples
Revisado: 06-16-24
I really appreciate his sharing of what he endured and what he learned. I wish he would have given more examples of her behavior as she progressed. I understand it’s very personal, but he did decide to write about it. I don’t think giving more details or examples of her behavior would be disrespectful; rather it would help other caregivers to anticipate or affirm the behaviors that are not unique. Anything to allow caregivers to feel not alone.

Historia
It was four o'clock in the morning. A young woman pushed through the hospital doors. Staff would later say they thought the woman was a new mother, returning to her child - and in a way, she was. She walked into the nursery, where a baby girl lay sleeping. The infant didn't wake when the woman placed her gently in the shopping bag she had brought with her. There is CCTV footage of what happened next, and most Australians would have seen it, either on the internet or the news.

Historia
The doorbell rings, just days after my beloved husband’s sudden death. I don’t recognise the woman on our doorstep, with her blonde highlights, a diamond bracelet identical to my own and a bouncing baby boy in her arms. As I show her inside, I notice her eyes grow wide as she takes in our spacious hallway, and the big squashy sofas that we all used to pile on. She glances at the silver-framed family photos and my little daughter hiding behind my skirts. She looks at me, her blue eyes serious. ‘I’m sorry’ she says. ‘I am your husband’s girlfriend. And this is his son.'
