My twelve-year-old daughter frequently moans that Ballycarrick is the most boring town in Ireland. Nothing ever happens here. She’s right. And as the local police sergeant, this is something I’m delighted about.

The abrupt ending caught me by surprise but the story was sweet and engaging. Definitely one for the middle-aged woman to appreciate! Good sharp Irish humor. Reflective but not too heavy. Very nice.

Life is calm and fairly predictable. Until something unthinkable happens in our sleepy backwater. A crime, but not like anything I've ever seen before. It's a complete mystery. And it's up to me to solve it.

Not the best story
Revisado: 01-04-24
I enjoy these books, but this took 7 chapters to get to the crime. Lots of unnecessary characterization. And I don’t get the title.

A little naive but a surprise!
Revisado: 10-19-23
A fun story that made this cheese-lover drool and hanker for a grilled cheese sandwich. I am rarely surprised by whodunnit but this one got me! Maybe it was the narrator but this cozy mystery’s main character is a little too sweet, doting, and naive. The dialogue is shallow and choppy. I will try the next one because of the clever plot line potential, but might not make it through the saccharin.

Fun idea! A Julia-Child-flavored mystery. The narrator tackled the accents pretty well. The story is engaging and might be a surprise for those who don’t often devour cozy mysteries.

While the end feels a little hurried, the books lays out the story in an interesting and intriguing fashion. This is the first book so I don’t have a great feel for all of the characters yet, but I will continue to book two.

Historia
The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.
