Historia
By the time Phil Chase is elected president, the world's climate is far on its way to irreversible change. Food scarcity, housing shortages, diminishing medical care, and vanishing species are just some of the consequences. The erratic winter the Washington, D.C., area is experiencing is another grim reminder of a global weather pattern gone haywire: bone-chilling cold one day, balmy weather the next. BONUS AUDIO: Includes an exclusive introduction by author Kim Stanley Robinson.

Narrator not worthy of author
Revisado: 12-26-09
This book would certainly have been rated higher if not for the distracting "style" of the narrator. His mechanical reading was not enjoyable. The story was engaging enough to hold me despite this narrator.

Avoid this narrator!
Revisado: 12-26-09
The story and characters are interesting enough to keep me engaged but this narrator is driving me crazy. His cadence and mispronunciations make it seem he is reading this for the first time. Ugg!

Needs a different narrator
Revisado: 11-08-09
The author provides a foreword which is fine but the main narrator is either the best available text to speech computer program or a flat, wooden reader. His presentation and especially his cadence are quite distracting.

Historia
A Massachusetts state investigator is called home from Knoxville, Tennessee, where he is completing a course at the National Forensic Academy. His boss is planning to run for governor, and as a showcase she's planning to use a new crime initiative called At Risk; its motto: "Any crime, any time." In particular, she's been looking for a way to employ cutting-edge DNA technology, and she thinks she's found the perfect subject in an unsolved 20-year-old murder-in Tennessee.

Disappointing
Revisado: 09-18-06
I have enjoyed this author's past work, so I didn't check the reviews - big mistake. I found the characters not very likable, too depressing for me. As others have said, the story ended in an unsatisfying rush. I strongly suggest you look for another way to spend your credit/money.
