Wonderful, engaging, compelling
Revisado: 12-10-12
A great book with fascinating stories. I felt completely immersed in the world of this high school and its students and staff.
I thought the narration was pretty good, though there were a few words that were weirdly over-pronounced. Overall, an enjoyable performance.

Historia
Perhaps best known for his No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency series, #1 New York Times best-selling author Alexander McCall Smith delights fans around the world with his warmhearted 44 Scotland Street novels. In the series’ sixth entry, the residents of 44 Scotland Street grapple with problems both trivial and severe, but none so great as when six-year-old Bertie Pollock - who longs to be seven - mislays his mum and learns a valuable lesson about wish fulfillment.

Enjoyable, but not the best in the series
Revisado: 10-21-12
I'm a big fan of the 44 Scotland Street series, and have read or listened to all of the previous books. As usual, the performance of Robert Ian Mackenzie was spot on, and I really enjoyed listening. However, I found the plot of this book to be much darker than the previous books, which I did not enjoy. And the feminist in me took umbrage more than once, for example (hopefully this is not a spoiler): a conflict between women ending in hair pulling. Really?
But overall I really enjoyed listening to this book, and will certainly listen to future books in this series.
