Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Prince Harry, KING of Hearts!!!
Revisado: 01-12-23
Beautifully descriptive and nostalgic memoir of a true born Prince. Completely engaging and.. real.
Thank you so much Prince Harry, for giving us this peek into your world. Thank you for being the FIRST in your family with the courage to go against the grain and show your humanity. You are EXACTLY what the world needs at this specific moment in time!!
A strong man, protecting and CHERISHING his family in the face of crippling opposition on a scale previously unseen.... All for honoring your wedding vows.
It's clear that just by doing the one thing that should be *instinctual* for all men- providing and protecting your family's physical, mental, emotional health- you are showing what nearly everyone in the royal family and extended royals (and most post modern men) have been sorely lacking.
Charles speaks of duty and family... but he should have protected DIANA the way you are protecting Meghan!
No matter what.
No questions asked.
She was a woman and a mother and he failed her for his own vanity.
So instead of making you a champion, and an exemplary example for a new generation...he rather sit back and either sanction or overlook a bunch of petty, thinly veiled nonsense.
This age might be too narcissistic, but history will remember what has been done here.
Praise be to heaven and the Saints that you've put this in your words!
Story of the century.
And your love just made you the hero.

Historia
Matilda, Lady of Flanders, Duchess of Normandy, rules as Regent of Normandy for her husband, Duke William. William has won the Battle of Hastings, but Saxon England does not wish to surrender to him as King. As William sets England to flame, Matilda waits in Normandy for the time to come when she can claim her crown. Through bloodshed, battle, and struggle will England be won, but even as Matilda rejoices for her new power, a prophecy is spoken, linking the fates of her children to the wailing voices and horrific images in dreams which come to haunt her.

Stay with it.. TRUST me!
Revisado: 09-13-20
I read the prequel to this book. However, overall this novel is leaps and bounds better than the first in its delivery.
The storyline is good in both novels and I learned a little of the likely background and driving forces of the characters' real counterparts. I'm ashamedly not very familiar with the Norman invasion.. (I spend my time devouring the intricacies of the Plantagenets!)
But I think the author is getting her "feet wet" with writing and especially writing historical fiction.
I sense the author struggles with making the beginning of her books more interesting... she wants to get to the "good part" more than the reader!
But when she got to the good part with this book, whew!! I struggled not to wail like a baby!
Excellent tear jerker ending!

At the side of the most famous warlord of history, Matilda worked, not as a quiet, modest wife, but as a leader...as a ruler just as ruthless as her husband. Under her soft mask of beauty and modesty there lay the heart of a woman powered by ambition. A woman who was strong, courageous, and devious.... Through the eyes of one of the most extraordinary women of history unfold the events leading to the invasion of England and the battle that would decide its fate....

a nice beginner level historical fiction
Revisado: 07-23-20
if I remember correctly this is the author's first novel, or first historical fiction. This book was okay.. the storyline kept me interested, the narration could have been better but it suited the protagonist. another reviewer had the good idea to speed up the listening time and that actually worked well for this one.

Revisado: 06-01-17
In theory, this novel has everything you crave in an historical fiction... just didn't deliver.
Feels like a medieval 'Outlander', (sans the sex) reimagined by a lively 9 yr old.

Historia
In 1989 Ken Follett astonished the literary world with The Pillars of the Earth, set in 12th-century England. Readers and listeners ever since have hoped for a sequel. At last, here it is. Although the two novels may be listened to in any order, World Without End also takes place in Kingsbridge, two centuries after the townspeople finished building their exquisite Gothic cathedral. The cathedral is again at the center of a web of love and hate, greed and pride, ambition and revenge.

Few books have captivated the imagination and won the devotion and praise of readers and critics everywhere as has George R. R. Martin’s monumental epic cycle of high fantasy that began with A Game of Thrones. Now, in A Feast for Crows, Martin delivers the long-awaited fourth book of his landmark series, as a kingdom torn asunder finds itself at last on the brink of peace . . . only to be launched on an even more terrifying course of destruction.

Historia
Dickens called David Copperfield his "favourite child," and many critics consider the novel to be one of his best depictions of childhood. Set in early Victorian England against a backdrop of great social change, Dickens acutely observed the phenomena of the Industrial Revolution and used them as the canvas on which he painted the novel. Many consider David Copperfield to be the author’s finest work.

Revisado: 10-11-16
I cannot recommend this book more highly. This novel is full to the brim with life-lessons, morality, and surprisingly... humor!!!
The narrator, with his many voices was perfection, and brought the story to life.
Wholesome and delightful.
