One of my favorite reads for 2024! Loved the banter and spicy moments 🥵🔥🔥; but mainly the blooming relationship between Rowan and Sloane.

WITTY, HILARIOUS, AND DOWNRIGHT GHOSTLY!

Absolutely LOVED Maddox and Hiro! The story/murder mystery plot definitely kept you guessing, although I did wish for a few steady hints to who the culprit was. The author did an amazing job with the witty banter and hilarious yet awkward moments. One of my instant fav reads of this year. I'm looking forward to the next installments!

🤦🏾‍♀️No and No

While I love a good regency story, this one made me cringe with how little the main MC, Gavin thought of Kira. Throughout the entire book, he claimed he couldn't have her in the family due to her "loose moral" all from gossip and him being a creep. No actual facts, no asking her with sincerity what happened. And then for Kira to make the same mistake, not once but 3 times, that got her into her problematic situation just floored me. Where is her intelligence the characters praise her on? Where is he since of danger? Why does she just assume every single time?! I finished the book just to see how the story ends and yeah, I can't say I enjoyed this read unfortunately. The historical time period might be different for social and class situations, but to be that naive and see idk what in Gavin----thanks but sorry I couldn't get into it.

Excellent, yet didn't end like I would expect

The novel is definitely enticing, leaving you hooked to every word, every decision told by the narrator. Will she or won't she turn her sister in? I was shocked at first that the narrator/protagonist Korede helps her sister, Feme cover up her murders. Her character comes across as shocked, annoyed, and torn between what she knows is right and what has become a routine. Before long Korede has hopes of her own which are threatened by Feme's constant selfish actions.

I enjoyed the book. it was a fun and exciting ride to listen to. My only concern is that nothing truly gets resolved at the end for Korede or Feme. I wish Korede had more strength, as smart and strong willed as she comes across; but then again she also has a few secrets of her own she and her sister have to keep.

Disappointing and lacked follow through

The initial start of the novel gave off a wonderful new world surrounded by water, heartache, and an strong sisterly bond. Yet as the story continued the relationship between Nor and Sadie becomes clearer; Nor being seen as imperfect all her life and with insecurities about her looks has a braver and stronger personality than her sister who has been raised as a princess since the accident. While Not is setup to be a strong character, smart, and brave, the author fails to place this in the remaining of the story. Now in Illara in place of Zadie, Not must navigate her way around the castle and the deadly secrets it holds.

There are several plot points about the novel I dislike, but to summarize, the insta love between Nor and Talin could have been development from beginning to end. Nor, while pretending to be Zadie fantasizes about Talin during crucial moments!! Instead of arming herself against sharing secrets with her hand maiden who she never suspected of being a spy for the cruel prince, Not talks and talks and has other people connect the dots for her. Although it's her first time on land and in a royal house, Nor gives into the prince's demands and tells herself she can't lie when all she did back home was lie to cover for her sister. Barely any of the personality traits carry over and the story goes from interesting, to boring, to telling not showing, and finally at the end everything comes together with a neat now without Nor being a spy or accomplishing anything but getting herself into trouble.

The ending could have been stretched out and made into the middle and a plot twist could have really been used to carry the story along to the end.

I had hopes for the book but it was disappointing 😔. Nice slow burn listen but the plot lacked the high stakes it is need to carry it forward.

Deadly Intoxicating

The character of Jane and her methodical nature brings a whole new meaning to crazy. And yet I found myself enjoying the book even more. The way she comments on the actions and nature of others while questioning her own place really adds an in-depth look into her character. The story, although plotted in revenge was brilliantly done and I can't wait for the next book in this deadly Intoxicating series!

An Amazing, Enchanting Tale

I've been waiting for this book to come out and it did not disappoint! The story development and characters were done extremely well. You could feel their emotions and their connections through the narrator's voice. Excellent reading; I was captivated from beginning to end. I'm sad it's over, but now I just have to get the hardcopy of the book to keep in my library! An instant classic tale with rich imagery and description of the Vine witches and their spells.

The characters were great, the actors really brought the characters to life. Of course the stories are over the top but the stories are well written and entertaining.
