Historia
At times stern, at other times patient, at times perceptive, at other times in sad denial, Olive Kitteridge, a retired schoolteacher, deplores the changes in her little town of Crosby, Maine, and in the world at large, but she doesn’t always recognize the changes in those around her: a lounge musician haunted by a past romance; a former student who has lost the will to live; Olive’s own adult child, who feels tyrannized by her irrational sensitivities; and her husband, Henry, who finds his loyalty to his marriage both a blessing and a curse.

Amazing and relevant
Revisado: 08-19-24
Greg Iles outdid himself, once again. While this is a LONG listen, it’s worth it… plot lines that are so relevant in today’s political world, as well as in the foundations of our beliefs and upbringings here in the South. More politically leaning left than all of the others in the series, for sure. Difficult subject matter handled well, if not violently, by the author.
A Must Read that brings back Penn Cage and many characters we’ve met before, both good and bad,

You’ll die out there,” a friend whispered to Ruth. But a siren haunted her dreams, calling to her. She had no choice but to follow it into the deepest, darkest jungle in the world, a decision that would change her life forever.

Another amazing woman to remember!
Revisado: 10-24-23
Kathryn Casey’s “Angel Falls” actually follows the lives of two amazing women… one’s story from the 1940s… the other’s from the 1990s… and their coming together. Casey introduces us to Ruth Robertson in her 80s, an amazing woman with quite an adventurous background. Ruth was real… Gabby, who befriended her, is suffering great trauma. Coming together through store owner, Nick, their stories unfold and friendships develop. Gabby is strengthened through these two to try and reclaim her life. Two stories of great resilience… and characters you will grow to love. A beautiful book and very good narration. Highly recommend!

Awful narration. Good story!
Revisado: 06-18-23
I almost stopped listening because of the sing song voice of the narrator. So inappropriate for this story. If it had a decent narrator, it might have been 5 stars. I stuck with it and dreaded hearing that voice every time I turned it on… But the author has a good story here. Good Southern Gothic read… So, stick with it!

I liked this… it was fun listening to a “play,” and the narrators were all good. Interesting story line on the island but it worked. Not crazy about the ending but the whole thing kept me listening.
