Another Borgia Story

I loved this “take” on the Borgias! Every time someone writes a story about them the characters come out different.

Disappointed!
Revisado: 05-18-23
I read “Pillars of the Earth” and “World Without End” several times and also listened to them on tape. So, I was excited to see another similar book by Ken Follett. But, I was so disappointed! I kept listening thinking I would start to enjoy it, but when I had read all but 3 hours, I finally stopped. It might be of interest to a historian; however your casual reader may be as put off as I was!

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Surprised!
Revisado: 09-21-22
I wasn’t sure what this was about, but I had grown weary of murder mysteries, and the reviews were good. Having just finished it, I understand why! At the start it seems rather ho-hum—but you soon realize you’ve been sucked in until you fall in love with the characters, and particularly the “remarkably bright creature.” I loved this book!

Revisado: 07-31-21
I haven’t read Michael Koryta’s books in order, so I’m not sure of the role of the Blackwell Brothers in other books. But, I did enjoy this one—it held my interest—couldn’t wait for the opportunity to listen. This is the second of his books I’ve listened to, and Im enjoying them. I’ll choose another of his books for my next listen.

Does She Wake?
Revisado: 07-26-21
I enjoyed this read. I almost didn’t download it because of a couple of negative reviews. I am puzzled as to why it would receive such negative words. It held my attention and with all of the twists and turns, had a satisfactory ending—not totally what I wanted, but still reasonable.

An Entertaining Way To Spend a Day
Revisado: 04-22-20
I started listening to this one morning as I was doing my routine activities. I continued as I ate lunch, then into the afternoon and first thing I knew, it was over. I enjoyed the storyline, and it was refreshing to start and finish the book I a few hours. It seems that so many of the books I listened to lately have taken days, sometimes weeks to complete.
