Historia
Jess needs a fresh start. She’s broke and alone, and she’s just left her job under less than ideal circumstances. Her half-brother Ben didn’t sound thrilled when she asked if she could crash with him for a bit, but he didn’t say no, and surely everything will look better from Paris. Only when she shows up – to find a very nice apartment, could Ben really have afforded this? – he’s not there.

Wish I Could Give a Higher Overall Rating
Revisado: 09-11-24
I love the intrigue and the plot twist at the end, although I did figure it out on my own. However, the constant taking the Lord’s name in vain is disappointing and hurtful to me. He is personal to me and to throw his name around in cavalier manor is disturbing. Not everyone who’s had a less than happy upbringing talks this way. The story could’ve been told and the shock and awe of it maintained without the crass language.

Don’t Bother.
Revisado: 07-19-23
Predictable storyline. You’ll enjoy it if you buy into the lies about what’s typical in marriage and family life.

Shocking Ending!
Revisado: 06-20-23
I’ve read many of Brian Freeman’s books, but this one, Wow! I laughed, smiled and experienced sadness over the cruelty of some of the characters, knowing that to some degree, art does imitate life.
I recommend reading the Jonathan Stride series by Mr. Freeman if you want more thrilling mystery, love and psychological twists.

Historia
When she stumbles across the ad, she’s looking for something else completely. But it seems like too good an opportunity to miss - a live-in nannying post, with a staggeringly generous salary. And when Rowan Caine arrives at Heatherbrae House, she is smitten - by the luxurious “smart” home fitted out with all modern conveniences, by the beautiful Scottish Highlands, and by this picture-perfect family. What she doesn’t know is that she’s stepping into a nightmare - one that will end with a child dead and herself in prison awaiting trial for murder.

What a Twist!
Revisado: 10-12-22
The first couple “chapters,” a loose term because the sections are unnumbered in the physical book, and they don’t match with the Audible version, were snoozers for me. But, since I was reading for book club, I wanted to keep going.
No spoilers here, but I will say listening to the audio version made the story come alive for me. I was able to read and/or listen to the end and on the edge of my seat.
Keep reading. You’ll be surprised to the last second!
