Engaging and well told basic premise for one the best sci fi movies of all time. The story ,like the movie are so far ahead of its time with respect to human insight and use of technology. Very good narration and reading pace by the narrator.

Historia
Gilgamesh, Hercules, Aeneas, and Lancelot are instantly recognized as mythological heroes in the West, evoking visions of Persian monsters, ghastly labors, and the founding and glorification of cities, but the name Quetzalcoatl is as mysterious as its spelling. Even those who have come across his name when learning about the history of Mesoamerica - particularly the Aztec and the god’s role in the Spanish conquest of their empire - are often unaware that the Mesoamerican deity has tales that equal any of those in the repertoire of the mythological figures mentioned above.

Excellent history on the Mesoamerican Deity Tlaloc
Revisado: 12-17-22
Very informative and, insightful but, the narrator was not properly pronouncing some of the Mesomerican names and locations properly. Still, I highly recommend it for anyone seeking insight one of the oldest and most influential deities of Mesoamerica.

Historia
To the Aztecs, Huitzilopochtli wore a blue-green hummingbird helmet and was draped in pure white heron feathers. He carried a smoking mirror, an obsidian mirror, a shield, darts, and the serpent Xiuhcoatl that carried with it the fury and might of the sun. Everything about him - from his clothes to his weapons - emanated and defined royalty.

Fascinating insight to the Deity of the Mexica
Revisado: 10-09-22
Excellent information regarding the history of Huitzilopochtli. It explains why the Mexica sacrificed the way they did and the relationship between natural world and the Mexica political and religious leadership. I would have rated it 5 stars but, the Nahuatl pronunciations were not correct. Nahuatl language is poetic but, difficult to pronounce.

Historia
In physicist Stephen Hawking's brilliant opus, A Brief History of Time, he presented us with a bold new look at our universe, how it began, and how our old views of physics and tired theories about the creation of the universe were no longer relevant. In other words, Hawking gave us a new look at our world, our universe, and ourselves. Now, Hawking presents an even more comprehensive look at our universe, its creation, and how we see ourselves within it.

Michael York's reading is an excellent performance that compliments the content.

Historians and scholars still battle over the origins of - and reasons for - some of Mesoamerica’s formative civilizations' downturn. How could such unique, innovative, and thriving societies fall without certain evidence of the causes? And what might the Mayans or Incans have to do with the Olmecs' rise and fall? This audiobook takes listeners on a journey that few have taken, deep into archaeological sites, artifacts, and the many theories surrounding the Olmecs and their history, so shrouded in mystery.

There is a good deal of information here if you don't know anything about the Olmecs. My major issue is with pronunciation Of Mesoamerican American names and locations.

How did Fidel Castro fool the CIA for a generation? Why did Neville Chamberlain think he could trust Adolf Hitler? Why are campus sexual assaults on the rise? Do television sitcoms teach us something about the way we relate to each other that isn't true? While tackling these questions, Malcolm Gladwell was not solely writing a book for the page. He was also producing for the ear. In the audiobook version of Talking to Strangers, you’ll hear the voices of people he interviewed - scientists, criminologists, military psychologists.

An excellent work that is now in my life library.
Revisado: 08-15-21
Despite some serious historical reference errors, in my opinion, between the initial meeting of Moctezuma and Cortez, which almost turned me off the audiobook initially, I found the book true to the author's intent of examining how we all make mistakes in perceiving people and life situations. I could not stop listening and agreeing with the author intently on so many things which even I could not deny I was guilty of myself even though, I'm a minority. This audiobook has inspired me to rethink how I speak to people on a daily basis. In my current profession, I interact with hundreds of people every month in extreme situations. I have definitely learned something about myself, my natural personal prejudices and what I can do to be a better person to other people without having to do anything more than simply understand and take control of my personal flaws and biases rather than to judge or, as the author states, default to truth without thinking. An excellent piece of work which people from all walks of life should listen to.

Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

I've always enjoyed Matthew as an actor but, his personal stories struck several chords with experiences in my own life. I've been reminded of my own life and, personal tragedies while laughing and listening to Matthew's perspectives of both his and our shared experiences told in his iconic homespun manner. A real joy to listen to.

Astounding Mesoamerican Reference Material !
Revisado: 03-30-21
incredible information from the viewpoint of the Aztecs and Mayans up to the defeat of Tenochtitlan. I've read Bernal Del Castillo's version several times and this historical record from the Viewpoint of the Mexica is incredible. The historical conquest records for the most part from the Spanish and the Mexicans themselves differs only slightly, most notably with the reference to Moctezuma's demise and the verification of cannibalism. Nevertheless, this is a FANTASTIC account of the clash of two cultures from the view point of the Mexica themselves. I'm of 65% Mesoamerican descent and I find this answers many questions regarding some of the current cultural differences between the Mesoamerican native peoples of the past and, present. If you're a typical Liberal Arts educated/indoctrinated leftist who believes the natives of Central America were peaceful loving natives who just wanted to be left alone, DON'T listen to this audiobook or, read the Kindle version. It will not confirm what you believe or, were taught in college. The price of the audio book alone is worth it to learn the correct pronunciations of people and places ! I am hoping to find a hardcover copy of this book to read to my grandchildren someday. Thank you Audible and, Peter Touras! Every student of Mesoamerican history should be intimately familiar with this magnificent piece of historical work !
