Absolutely amazing! The best historical romance writer ever. This last instalment has everything. Passionate, steamy love scenes and an ever building emotional whirlwind end between the protagonists. Absolutely delightful.!

Should have been read by a man since the protagonist is male as are many of the characters.
Good story, as usual.

Such a beautiful story, beautifully told by the narrator. One of Eloisa James’ most touching romances was just the right note of passion and eroticism. Wish I could discover it all over again.

Tame Romance, Good Story, Needed Better Character Development

I confess that I enjoy steamier, more passionate historical romance. That said, The Matrimonial Advertisement has a really good story. However, I would have liked a deeper, more realistic build up of the love between the protagonists and stronger character development. It just didn’t seem quite believable

Wonderful story although harrowing. The performance leaves a lot to be desired regarding the female characters, but very good otherwise. Samantha Norman has done a masterful job completing Franklin's story and matching her style. Excellent storytelling.

A Book Forged in Skill

Total
4 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 12-16-08

There is no doubt that Chris Evans is not only a masterful storyteller, but also a really good writer; one who is able to weave magic with his words.
It is also very clear that upon starting A Darkness Forged in Fire the reader is making a commitment to what I believe will be one of the greatest fantasy sagas ever written. This first book of the Iron Elves fulfills its role of introducing us beautifully to the premise, the characters, the setting and the exposition of what will be an intricate storyline, while leaving us with a hankering for more.
I cannot wait for the second book, promised, I believe, for July of 2009. In itself, this first book is entertaining and moving, the language filled with moments of poetry, humour and raw emotion.
Do yourself a favour, read this A Darkness Forged in Fire and embark upon a magical adventure.

The Devil You Know Audiolibro Por Mike Carey arte de portada

I loved this book. Perhaps it isn't the most engrossing plot, but it was engrossing enough. It's the quick wit and humour that make this book and have me wishing for more from Mike Carey like his second work, Vicious Circle and his third, Dead Men's Boots.

Rhett Butler's People Audiolibro Por Donald McCaig arte de portada

Closure

Total
4 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 01-29-08

Gone with the Wind it is not, but it is fitting that we be invited into Rhett Butler's world and his side of the story, as it were. Rhett Butler's People provides us with a better understanding of who Rhett was, his relationships with others, including Belle Wattling and the life he had, independently of Scarlett.
I am sure I am not the only one who, after reading Gone with the Wind, hoped that Rhett and Scarlett would settle their differences. What Donald McCaig did is not easy, but he did it skillfully since Mitchell's plot was often communicated indirectly in epistolary fashion. McCaig touched upon former events, but told his own story. In fact, he is often more acerbic than Mitchell ever was.
It is true that the characters could have been fleshed out a little more had we been allowed to share in their innermost thoughts and feelings, butI do believe McCaig aquitted himself quite well, if for no other reason than the fact that he was able to continue where Mitchell left off and bring Scarlett's and Rhett's story full circle. If you loved Gone with the Wind, Rhett Butler's People should not be overlooked.
