Historia
In the ancient river kingdom, where touch is a battlefield and bodies the instruments of war, Mia Rose has pledged her life to hunting Gwyrach: women who can manipulate flesh, bones, breath, and blood. The same women who killed her mother without a single scratch. But when Mia's father announces an alliance with the royal family, she is forced to trade in her knives and trousers for a sumptuous silk gown. Mia plots a daring escape, but could never predict the greatest betrayal of all: her own body. Mia possesses the very magic she has sworn to destroy.

Captivating!
Revisado: 10-16-24
This book was written in such a relatable and engaging way, particularly for this genre, that I was glued to it from beginning to end. I can't wait to dive into the other two books in this trilogy!

Not North's Best
Revisado: 08-13-24
I adored this author's other books and while I appreciate his writing style and I thought this narrator was excellent, this story was difficult to follow and seemed overcomplicated. I kept trying to get into it but it never really clicked for me -- I found it a bit exhausting. Such a bummer, because his books have been my favorites as of late.

Historia
Social scientist Brené Brown has ignited a global conversation on courage, vulnerability, shame, and worthiness. Her pioneering work uncovered a profound truth: Vulnerability—the willingness to show up and be seen with no guarantee of outcome—is the only path to more love, belonging, creativity, and joy. But living a brave life is not always easy: We are, inevitably, going to stumble and fall.

I loved Daring Greatly and Braving the Wilderness but this one did not resonate with me. I struggled to get through and ending up skipping around at times hoping it would get better, it didn't. Highly recommend her others though!
