Ronan rocks so hard ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Revisado: 03-22-25
Ronan Rocks - as we’ve been privileged to experience in the past. His reporting and endurance style research offers us a glimpse into the human experience of the rich & privilege that provides a better understanding of our changing county. How ever weirdly Ronan entered this microcosm of the divided “truths” from those in their 70’s- to 80’s; this generation that literally shape almost every aspect of our own lives today, cling to their paranoia, their wealth & their segregated communities to support their views all the way to the Whitehorse & beyond. Surviving the Seniors should com next in the pod cast 😊.
In the future I feel this series will be referred to as one of those reports that captures the essence of a certain aspect of a female archetype, Many of us experienced this “type” as our mothers, but have been discouraged from expressing the depth of damage they cause . Not in sensational life experiences but in multiple generations of the Families that survive them. I don’t say this to demonize Cece - the main character. I say this as a daughter who survived a mother that can only be described as a high functioning sociopath. As a child there is no way to combat, escape or report on any injustice that occurs, That person is too smart to rich and too difficult.
The elements Ronan illuminates in the short series do examine, the life of Cece, with her current husband ( an essential part of any high functioning sociopath) who co-signs her reality moment to moment, Cece has a memory/ substance abuse excuse, also essential ( though in my case when my mother repented to God- her sins were forgotten so hense “no memory” -because God forgave her and “forgot her sin” so she didn’t need a black out drunk excuse which is almost more insane than black out drunk). Evenstill it’s not a personality that is created by the individual. So its hard to define, it’s a class, an era, supported by the propaganda from the “golden age” generation that preceded Cece, it took a village and global economic events, it took 2 world wars, white washed selective education, segregated neighborhoods, polite society of a bygone era and an elite social structure to create the complex characters Ronan presents with his unique search for “the truth.” And what he delivers- is true and rare.
Needless to say I appreciated the series on so many levels.
I appreciated the years of effort it would take to make this presentation objective and consumable. I appreciated the organization. It’s not until much later that the real victims are introduced. There is much to be said about them but, unless “gone girl” was your mother - dear reader you just wouldn’t understand- not really. So I’ll simply say : I applaud the efforts of Cece’s daughters to live outside of the definition they were born into and the incredible effort they have undertaken to be their own people with an omnipresent entity that one must live through to truly appreciate the difficulties they have navigated. I can only say from personal experience, if your mother is not capable of “love” your human experience in life is vastly different from most. This series just grazes that topic and the tiniest glimpse in to the boo box of pain unloved children survive- again applause for not making that the focus of this series. Any other journalist might not have resisted that temptation.
Thank you Ronan. You handled this topic deftly. You are a gift to those of us who have survived privileged trauma and begun the journey of giving new definitions to credibly and source. ❤️ I have hope that one day over many years Ronan will be the one who breaks open the phenomenon of surviving a parent who is a sociopath only so that new definitions and general understanding of depth can be more readily understood. Keep up the great work Ronan, you are doing great.

Why is Miami… Miami? What does the heartbreaking fate of the cheetah tell us about the way we raise our children? Why do Ivy League schools care so much about sports? What is the Magic Third, and what does it mean for racial harmony? In this provocative new work, Malcolm Gladwell returns to the subject of social epidemics and tipping points, this time with the aim of explaining the dark side of contagious phenomena. Through a series of gripping stories, Gladwell traces the rise of a new and troubling form of social engineering

I was not a fan of the third book
Revisado: 12-01-24
******So my review will contain SPOILERS *******
What a surprise? After two great twisting turning plot swirling volumes out and our main character turns into a “Step -ford-esque” gentrified grinding PTA placating hand wringing helicopter mom want-a-be? Really with a her background and experience the first school fight her son engages with another 9 year( no obvious motivations is considered ) our heroine immediately dubs her son a “socio path” until we get the rest of the snowflake filled PC overtop identity crisis story? The whole idea seem written by a “ group of assistance writers ?
This story feels completely compelled without the dame spice & nice of the previous. It’s more a kind to a fan fiction story than the story line we’ve grown to look forward to listening to to.
There were a few nice cameo blast from the past characters but it just didn’t save the boring banter and witless navigation of a flat one dimensional plot or reveal a barely developed motivation’s of the biggest catalyst - ya that not believable or endearing not to mention unplayable portion was dropped in as a Hail Mary tie in, to make an editorial deadline. Disappointing ending to a once promising series . 3 in and I am out 🫡;(

Heath Miller- obviously you laid down some of this with the mother of all head colds. No deduction on performance- because it was still good & how can you not respect an actor working that hard ⭐️

Revisado: 06-13-24
This release is a master class in world building. I feel humbled to witness an author become a master story teller. I have loved this series, I miss the characters as though they are friends, between releases I count the days. The witch of webs is far and away the most darkly personal, twisted bittersweet journey of pride, prejudice, judgment, justice and chaos associated with the madness of the mob. Our beloved author is fierce. Strap in and get ready for a ride. Andrea as ways, unfailing in her amazing narration..

Historia
A retelling of the favourite Irish fairytale, The Children of Lir. Aífe marries Lir, a chieftain with four children by his previous wife. Jealous of his affection for his children, the witch Aífe turns them into swans for 900 years. Retold through the voice of Aífe, Savage Her Reply is unsettling and dark, feminist and fierce, yet nuanced in its exploration of the guilt of a complex character.

Exquisite pain, beautiful weave of old & new tales
Revisado: 05-24-24
Taking something old and making it new as an art form. I was delighted by the wit, dark humor, long suffering grief, and 1,000 years of transformative experiences strip away the one dimensional “evil step mother” revealed as a flawed, foul-able childish fae. Not human or woman more an everybody else’s girl entity whose rage was given place when She, herself was not enough, those who came before her were sacrificed because they would never be enough. When four children are sacrificed to this generational pyre of rage, nothing changes but the fire and the fuel it consumes until only ash remains.
The narrator was fantastic. Her compassion was empathic. This depth of insight, lent life and believability to an engaging modern “POV” retelling for the myth of changeling swans.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🗺️ W O R L D EXPANSION 🤯
Revisado: 05-02-24
Pirate writing & Andrea performing is such a delight. I am accustomed to 25-35 hour releases in this series, so I agree with other reviews that only have one complaint about a 12 hour Pirate Aba release: I don’t want it to end. (Again this is rabid Pirate fans just being spoiled.)
I’ve grown to love this series and miss the characters like old friends. Luckily fans of the Wandering Inn series have a prolific author guiding us through these new worlds.
Thank you for sharing your work. I can hardly wait for Witch of the Webs June 11, 2024:)
