Historia
As the daughter of a drug dealer, Wavy knows not to trust people, not even her own parents. It's safer to keep her mouth shut and stay out of sight. Struggling to raise her little brother, Donal, eight-year-old Wavy is the only responsible adult around. Obsessed with the constellations, she finds peace in the starry night sky above the fields behind her house until one night her stargazing causes an accident. After witnessing his motorcycle wreck, she forms an unusual friendship with one of her father's thugs, Kellen, a tattooed ex-con with a heart of gold.

Difficult but Amazing!
Revisado: 06-11-22
I struggled with how to feel about this book throughout, but ultimately decided that it is in fact a coming of age story and a romance in its own right. Trigger Warning to anyone who may be affected by graphic descriptions sexual experiences between an adult and a minor.

Historia
Stephen Smith is the boy who did not exist. Born out of wedlock in the early 1960s, Steve's parents - both devout Catholics - had felt so 'shamed' by their son's illegitimate birth that they hid him away from the world by locking him in the cellar...for 13 years. Apart from a few admissions to hospital as a result of his 'imprisonment', Steve remained in the coal cellar of the family home where he was deprived of daylight, his childhood, school and human contact until he'd reached his teenage years.

Critically acclaimed, praised by therapists, parents, and patients. This short, powerful depiction of life with an emotionally traumatized daughter should be required listening for anyone involved in adoption, parenting difficult children, or healing wounded hearts. The true story of Ani’s struggle with Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD) will inspire listeners long after the book is done. Ani's journey will forever change the way you see childhood trauma and what it means to parent with love.

Would not recommend.
Revisado: 11-06-21
Between the readers monotonous delivery and the unlikability of the main characters, I did not enjoy this book.

One winter night, she ushered her mother out of the house during one of her father’s tirades, and then snuck her back into the dark home through a window. Sandra was used to events like these; what she wasn’t used to were the mountains and nature surrounding her new home in West Virginia.

Convoluted

All over the place, hard to follow the jumps back and forth in time. Good concept but needs much more editing.
