And every hired gun in Kansas is out to collect the bounty on her head, including bonafide witch hunter Old Tom and his mysterious, mute ward Rabbit. On the road to Burden County, they’re joined by two vagabond cowboys with a strong sense of adventure–but no sense of purpose–and a recently widowed schoolteacher with nothing left to lose. And as their posse grows, so too does the danger.

Reminiscent of “Between two fires”; group of ragtag come together and head towards a destination. Not bad. Falls into the weird western category.

The CW of young adult lovecraft books
Revisado: 04-08-24
Main character is perpetually offended, story is convoluted, characters are one dimensional.
If this book was made into a show it would be on the CW with how cringy it is. You could copy and paste the characters into an alternate setting and it wouldn’t affect the story, the Lovecraftian world setting is not there. There is no unknowable mystery or existentialism, which defeats the whole purpose. Main character could have been transplanted to as a teen-girl werewolf living amongst humans who occasionally would mention her hairy arms only for the main character to cry about it, and go on about how they need to get their stolen books from the university back?

Ok
Revisado: 01-28-24
It’s ok, to get through the “tutorial” you need to listen to book 2 and there’s not really a comeuppance or a satisfying payoff. The main character very quickly leaves his companions behind and does his own thing. And it’s just him upgrading and not socializing

Historia
“Sam, could you do me a favor?” Thus begins a story that has now become part of America's true-crime hall of fame. It is a gory, grotesque tale befitting a Stephen King novel. It is also a David and Goliath saga - the story of a young lawyer fresh from the public defender's office whose first client in private practice turns out to be the worst serial killer in our nation's history. This is a gripping true crime narrative that reenacts the gruesome killings and the famous trial that shocked a nation.

Historia
It is autumn 1981 when inconceivable horror comes to Blackeberg, a suburb in Sweden. The body of a teenager is found, emptied of blood, the murder rumored to be part of a ritual killing. Twelve-year-old Oskar is personally hoping that revenge has come at long last—revenge for the bullying he endures at school, day after day. But the murder is not the most important thing on his mind. A new girl has moved in next door—a girl who has never seen a Rubik’s Cube before, but who can solve it at once. There is something wrong with her, though, something odd.

Historia
At a club in Missing Mile, N.C., the children of the night gather, dressed in black, look for acceptance. Among them are Ghost, who sees what others do not; Ann, longing for love; and Jason, whose real name is Nothing, newly awakened to an ancient, deathless truth about his father, and himself. Others are coming to Missing Mile tonight. Three beautiful, hip vagabonds - Molochai, Twig, and the seductive Zillah, whose eyes are as green as limes - are on their own lost journey, slaking their ancient thirst for blood, looking for supple young flesh.

Immature trendy teen angst.

If I were 15 I might like it more. It’s an okay portrayal of the goth scene late 80s early 90s but highly homoerotic (vampires, of course) but it’s over the top, as well as incest, etc.

Historia
It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

EQUATE MISTBORNE meets Im 14 and this is deep
Revisado: 06-02-23
It’s like a newborn giraffe gets knocked on the head with the Mistborn saga and the giraffe trampled out an equate version. HOWEVER, I kept listening, it had several holy shit moments and several LOL moments.
The worst part was the main character couldn’t keep his know it all mouth shut, and he suddenly became an over powered expert that massively leveled? Like what. I’ll be listening to the second book out of sheer masochitic curiosity.
This author has an extreme amount of potential, if he could reel on his I’m 14 and this is deep religious and society rants.
