World building and myth making....

As Tolkien sought to create a new (at the time) Anglo Saxon mythology utilizing older pieces of anglo saxon mythos, so too does Tomi Adeyemi. With this recrafted Hero's Journey, she attempts to create an Afro-centric mythos aimed at afro-americans in a time in our history in what feels like a genuine watershed moment for The Grand Experiment.
The story is set in Africa, but speaks to racial issues here in America. the story is quickly paced, moving from beat to beat with a similarity to Star Wars (as opposed to MCU Black Panther which has been mentioned by the author as well as others) that continually struck me as I listened. However, much like MCU Black Panther, this is a story - a piece of media if you will -that has a power for the Black American Community that goes beyond itself. I understood that while listening; yet it is a testament to Tomi Adeyemi's craft (as well as the narration)that I was drawn in to the story itself regardless of its social impact and importance.
I look forward to the next two novels to come with only one question? is this story from ..A Long Time Ago
