Historia
High in his attic bedroom, 12-year-old David mourns the loss of his mother. He is angry and he is alone, with only the books on his shelf for company. But those books have begun to whisper to him in the darkness, and as he takes refuge in the myths and fairytales so beloved of his dead mother, he finds that the real world and the fantasy world have begun to meld. The Crooked Man has come, with his mocking smile and his enigmatic words: "Welcome, your majesty. All hail the new king."

Historia
The Crimea was one of the crucibles of the war on the Eastern Front, where first a Soviet and then a German army were surrounded, fought desperate battles, and were eventually destroyed. The fighting in the region was unusual for the Eastern Front in many ways, in that naval supply, amphibious landings, and naval evacuation played major roles, while both sides were also conducting ethnic cleansing as part of their strategy - the Germans eliminating the Jews and the Soviets purging the region of Tartars.

What disappointed you about Where the Iron Crosses Grow?
Although the topic is interesting, the listener gets "detailed to death" with every military move made but the story is lost in the overabundance of pointless detail.

I have not had the pleasure to listen to any of Traci's work but I will be on the look out!

Historia
Based on previously unpublished documents, diaries, notes, photographs, and dramatic interviews with Hitler's colleagues and associates, this is the definitive biography of one of the most despised yet fascinating figures of the 20th century. Painstakingly documented, it is a work that will not soon be forgotten.

An excellent book.
Revisado: 12-16-14
Would you consider the audio edition of Adolf Hitler to be better than the print version?
Yes
What was one of the most memorable moments of Adolf Hitler?
Listening to the account of his relationship with his mother during her battle with breast cancer and eventual death.
What about Ralph Cosham’s performance did you like?
He is very well spoken and easy to follow
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The book in general places Hitler in a different light as it shows the events that occur around him prior to his rise to power.
Any additional comments?
I am still not a fan of Hitler, but one cannot fully understand the tyrant without learning everything possible from all sides. A standard precept of History states that history is always written by the winners.

Historia
The Marquis De Sade completed the first draft of Justine Volume 1, a powerful and compelling descent into the realms of sexual perversity and sado masochism, during two weeks in 1787 while a prisoner in the Bastille. Sexual degradation, humiliation and erotic pain are eloquently and openly explored in a novel that was to become the most famous and infamous of all de Sade's work.

Historia
Prosecuting attorney in the Manson trial Vincent Bugliosi held a unique insider's position in one of the most baffling and horrifying cases of the 20th century: the cold-blooded Tate-LaBianca murders carried out by Charles Manson and four of his followers. What motivated Manson in his seemingly mindless selection of victims, and what was his hold over the young women who obeyed his orders? Now available for the first time in unabridged audio, the gripping story of this famous and haunting crime is brought to life by acclaimed narrator Scott Brick.

Revisado: 11-03-14
Would you consider the audio edition of Helter Skelter to be better than the print version?
Considering that I have very little time to read printed editions, I always consider the Audible version of a book to be invaluable.
What other book might you compare Helter Skelter to and why?
believe it or not, I consider the parallels between Charles Manson and Adolf Hitler to be significant (and rather scary).Who would have ever considered that to psychopaths of this magnitude could have risen to the public forefront in the same century!
Have you listened to any of Scott Brick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have never listened to Scott Brick, but I will be on the look out for more of his work!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Once I started listening to this book, it was VERY hard to put it down.
Any additional comments?
This is an awesome piece of history performed by a wonderful reader. Definitely worth the time!

Historia
Ulysses is regarded by many as the single most important novel of the 20th century. It tells the story of one day in Dublin, June 16th 1904, largely through the eyes of Stephen Dedalus (Joyce's alter ego from Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man) and Leopold Bloom, an advertising salesman. Both begin a normal day, and both set off on a journey around the streets of Dublin, which eventually brings them into contact with one another.

Historia
Eff is riding west, away from the safety of the frontier city she's always known.... Eff could be a powerful magician if she wanted to. Except she's not sure she wants that kind of responsibility. Everyone keeps waiting for her to do something amazing - or to fail in a spectacular way. Worse, her twin brother, Lan, a powerful double seventh son, is jealous of all the attention she's been getting. Even as Eff protests that she's just an ordinary girl, she's asked to travel past the Barrier Spell with one of the new professors at her father's school. The land west of the Barrier is full of dangers, both magical and wild. Eff will need to use all her strength - magical and otherwise - to come safely back home.

Historia
On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

What did you like best about 11-22-63? What did you like least?
The story line had some incredible potential that remained unfulfilled unfortunately. I loved the relationship that was developing between Sadie and George, but of course it was never brought to the desired conclusion.
