Historia
Reverend Augustus Shackleford's mission in life (aside from ensuring the collection box was suitably full every Sunday) was to secure advantageous marriages for each of his eight daughters. A tall order, given the fact that in the Reverend's opinion they didn't possess a single ladylike bone in the eight bodies they had between them. Quite where he would find a wealthy titled gentleman bottle headed enough to take any of them on remained a mystery and indeed was likely to test even his legendary resourcefulness.

Started out great
Revisado: 04-28-25
It started funny and enjoyable but fell flat. I found voice annoying after awhile. I like the premise of the story

Historia
Cailin Audley doesn’t fit in with Polite Society. A life spent among the working class taught her to value her independence in a way no newfound fortune or glittering ballroom could ever erase. When a major misstep sees the new heiress whisked away to the English countryside, Cailin soon realizes the vexing lengths her family will go to see her settled. But having risked her heart once before, Cailin has no interest in the men of the ton—especially not the frustratingly charming duke of St. James.

Cailin and Courtland Love Story
Revisado: 02-06-25
Loved this book from beginning to end. No empty, slow spots to lengthen the story. The characters were well developed. Not a lot of extra drama. Good read. Loved Cailin and Courtland. Great book.

Historia
Matthew Belmont is a widower who's been lonely too long. He sees Theresa as a woman paying far too high a price for mistakes long past, and as a lady given too little credit for turning her life around. Theresa is enthralled by Matthew's combination of honorable intentions and honest passion, but then trouble comes calling, and it's clear somebody wants to ruin any chance Theresa and Matthew have for a happily ever after.

Matthew and Teresa story
Revisado: 01-21-25
Love the book. Loved both main characters. Loved Matthew’s patience and faith in Teresa. He saw qualities in her that she didn’t see in herself. He constantly reinforced in her that she was worthy of happiness.

Callie and Justin story
Revisado: 01-18-25
I enjoyed the book very much. Callie believed Justin 'Sin' Vaughn was the killer of her brother and his wife because they were having an affair. As there was not evidence to support this, Callie had Sinclair tried in the court of public opinion. To which, Sinclair was determined guilt. As a result, 'Sin' forces Callie to marry him. Although neither trusted the other, they are drawn to one another. Nice read.

Iris's and Raphael's Story
Revisado: 01-18-25
Great book. So glad Iris got her happily ever after. Iris was introduced in the previous book, The Duke of Pleasure. A widow with no children she was prepared to settle in marriage again. Her first marriage was loveless and she had an understanding with her deceased friend's husband to marry and help rear his children. That was until she saw the budding affection that Hugh had for Alf. She then supported their union. While leaving Alf and Hugh's wedding, Iris is kidnapped. While trying to save Iris from her kidnappers, Raphael is shot (by Iris) and almost dies. Having been ordered to kill Iris, Raphael has no choice but to wed her to keep her safe.
Although he marries Iris, Raphael is determined not to bed her nor to develop any additional emotional attachment. Raphael is tortured by events from his childhood. He believed he had bad blood. He is on a mission to bring down the secret society that damaged him as a child: the same one that kidnapped Lady Iris. The development of the romance between the two was great but Iris determination not to have another unsatisfying marriage was her true strength. Great book.

I enjoyed this book. Excited to read the rest of the series. Sidonue and Jonas story was compelling. And at times frustrating. Disappointed in Roberta.

Historia
Helena Astley, Lady Hell to the ton, has plans. To control her father's shipping business, to live her way, by her rules. Her plan is going remarkably well until one ill-advised kiss invites the duke she doesn't want but cannot resist into her life. Hardnosed Roan Darlington, Duke of Leighton, cares little for society or finding a duchess. The only person ever to challenge him is the incorrigible, infuriating Helena Astley. The one woman he's never been able to forget. When they're caught in a ruinous situation, Roan offers her an alternative. A sham engagement.

Loved Roan’s confession on trust
Revisado: 12-07-24
Loved the book. Very entertaining. Enough backstory was given to understand Roan and Helena issues. Loved the fact that the courtship began ten years prior. Loved Roan confession that it isn’t that he finds it difficult to trust but that he requires trust.

Historia
Matilda Westcott has spent her life tending to the needs of her mother, the Dowager Countess of Riverdale, never questioning the life of solitude she has spun for herself. To Matilda, who considers herself the aging spinster daughter, marriage is laughable - love is a game for the young, after all. But her modest, quiet life of order unravels when a dashing gentleman from her past reappears, threatening to charm his way into her heart yet again.

Matilda Got her story
Revisado: 12-06-24
So glad that Matilda got her story!!! As a woman over fifty, Matilda never married and was cemented as her mother's primary caretaker. This novella shed light on her decision not marry, her relationship with her mother, and state of mind regarding upcoming changes in her mother's residence. I am so glad that Matilda was brave enough to take a chance on the love. I felt that she was watching others lives go by while she remain in the same place only growing older. I loved the story. One of my favorite in the series.
