Historia
When the Germans march into Denmark, Baron Henrik Ahlefeldt exchanges his nobility for anonymity, assuming a new identity so he can secretly row messages for the Danish Resistance across the waters to Sweden. American physicist Dr. Else Jensen refuses to leave Copenhagen and abandon her research-her life's dream. While printing resistance newspapers, she hears stories of the movement's legendary Havmand-the merman-and wonders if the mysterious and silent shipyard worker living in the same boardinghouse has something to hide.

The performances were so good. The characters were well-developed. I was hooked and read every chance I got. Great story, excellent writing.

Historia
August 1939: London is dismal under the weight of impending war with Germany as Hitler’s forces continue to sweep across Europe. Into this uncertain maelstrom steps Grace Bennett, young and ready for a fresh start in the bustling city streets she’s always dreamed of - and miles away from her troubled past in the countryside. With aspirations of working at a department store, Grace never imagined she’d wind up employed at Primrose Hill, an offbeat bookshop nestled in the heart of the city - after all, she’s never been much of a reader.

Captivating

I loved this book!! I listened to it every chance I got. It’s a wonderful story of the strength of women, the greatness that comes from kindness, the courage and strength of the citizens of London during WW2 and the closeness that comes when people open themselves to friendship and caring one for the other. I so enjoyed the story. I appreciated the romance, just the right amount, not taking away from the important other themes.
