Historia
More than the story of Monica Gall's life in London and her education as a singer, A Mixture of Frailties is an account of her education as a human being. The result is this absorbing novel, comic in the true sense, vivid, and frequently moving. A Mixture of Frailties is part of Robertson Davies' Salterton trilogy which also includes Tempest-Tost and Leaven of Malice.

Spare me .... get the physical book!!
Revisado: 07-10-05
I love the author ... but the reader in this one is pure torture to listen to... I had to give up after a few hours. It was taking away from the wordsmithing that I admire so much with the author. Do yourself a big favour and go and get the novel in print, snuggle up somewhere on a rainy day and enjoy it. Peace

Historia
Pi Patel has been raised in a zoo in India. When his father decides to move the family to Canada and sell the animals to American zoos, everyone boards a Japanese cargo ship. The ship sinks, and 16-year-old Pi finds himself alone on a lifeboat with a hyena, an orangutan, a zebra with a broken leg, and a 450-pound Bengal tiger. Soon it's just Pi, the tiger, and the vast Pacific Ocean - for 227 days. Pi's fear, knowledge, and cunning keep him alive until they reach the coast of Mexico, where the tiger disappears into the jungle.

Do not hesitate... it is engrossing, hilarious and thoughtful. This book is very worthy of it's accolades, and you will find it touches both your funny bone and heart. Excellent choice.

Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda
Revisado: 04-04-04
If I woulda known that for some reason this book needed a overbearing musical soundtrack at all the wrong moments, I coulda saved myself the money on this one. I shoulda just said NO.
Please, it certainly ruined this book for me... at times i could not hear the narrator. I was in format 2 which might not be conducive to quality music...but listen folks ... if i want to watch TV i will... please do not impose a soundtrack - hey we like the books the way they are. Or at least identify when a book has a significant soundtrack so that I can avoid them. OTher than that this book coulda been a contender for a good quick read .. :^ )
