Female protagonist requires female narrator
Revisado: 01-22-24
This excellent story lacks only a female voice, or even an attempt at female voice, to improve heroine's characterization. Imaginative, covers new ground and a surprise, if ambiguous, ending

Historia
After years of city life, Orla and Shaw Bennett are ready for the quiet of New York's Adirondack mountains — or at least, they think they are. Settling into the perfect farmhouse with their two children, they are both charmed and unsettled by the expanse of their land, the privacy of their individual bedrooms, and the isolation of life a mile from any neighbor.

Inaudible
Revisado: 10-14-22
I could not understand one complete sentence as narrated. I tried adjusting volume, I played at slower speeds and I tried playing it on my cell phone instead of through my Kindle. I gave up. I downloaded the written text.
The narrator's voice is muffled, recording is so poor it sounds like it was taped in 1950s.

Historia
One hundred years ago, H.P. Lovecraft created the Necronomicon, a grimoire of lost souls, magical rites and forbidden lore. Now, locked away, the hoarder of horror is after new voices, new blood, to add to his collection. Listen as he shares the tales that come to him, whispered through the keyhole and written in the dust. From ghost stories to encounters with demons, haunted houses and a fateful Celtic goddess, they will draw you into his claustrophobic and disturbing world.

Lovecraft Lite
Revisado: 09-16-21
Misleading promo. If these tales were inspired by Lovecraft, they were from his dustbin. The tales have little plot and meandering narratives. Audio quality is poor: even at highest volume setting, half of dialogue is unclear. Considering this is a BBC production, I expected higher recording quality.
I will ask for refund as soon as I complete this review. I hope no one wastes credit or cash on this dud.

Historia
Jon Padgett's The Secret of Ventriloquism, named the Best Fiction Book of 2016 by Rue Morgue Magazine, heralds the arrival of a significant new literary talent. With themes reminiscent of Shirley Jackson, Thomas Ligotti, and Bruno Schulz, but with a strikingly unique vision, Padgett's work explores the mystery of human suffering, the agony of personal existence, and the ghastly means by which someone might achieve salvation from both.

Dreadfully written. Attempted multiple times to listen to these stories. One of my more unfortunate choices from Audible.com.

Awful!
Revisado: 10-11-14
Would you try another book from Graham Masterton and/or Tristan Bernays?
Written by Masterton, yes, read by Tristan Bernays, no way.
What could Graham Masterton have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Describe it as a young adult novel.
What didn’t you like about Tristan Bernays’s performance?
Speech cadence. He had the enthusiasm of a rural sportscaster. Wrong genre for his over the top delivery. Very outputting. I want to return this waste of credit.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Annoyed. I want a refund!
Any additional comments?
Refund, now.
