Incongruous accents

The accents were distracting and wildly inaccurate

This is one of my favorite books of all time, I’ve read it countless times and enjoy it so much each time.
That being said, the narrator was not my cup of tea to say the least. She gave all the side characters the most cartoonish southern USA accent. This book is set in Prince Edward Island and a fictional north east Canadian city. It was so inaccurate and distracting that It often took me out of the story and I would skip ahead until that character left the scene.
Just my opinion of course.
