Historia
One sunny August afternoon, the residents of Cedar Close throw their annual summer barbecue. Children play in the cherry-tree lined street, tables are laden with food, and the wine is flowing. For Laurie Mills, it’s her first time meeting the neighbours. And it’s the first time she discovers her husband, Robert, is having an affair. Cedar Close has always been a nice place to live - a quiet suburban street where everyone looks out for one another and bad things don’t happen. Until late one evening, when Robert Mills is found dead in his bedroom.

One me over
Revisado: 02-26-24
When I read the first one by this author, I didn’t care for it, and planned not to read anymore. But when a second one when we are another ended up in my library, I listen to it, and like it better. And now his third one was the best so far and I do look forward to reading and listening to more by this author.

On the day before his twenty-first wedding anniversary, David Sullinger buried an ax in his wife’s skull. Now, eight jurors must retire to the deliberation room and decide whether David committed premeditated murder—or whether he was a battered spouse who killed his wife in self-defense.

The deeply layered understanding of each human personalityK
Revisado: 02-05-24
My favorite character was the minister, no doubt, because I am a retired minister after 30 years in the trenches. It was a realistic rewinder that life is what happens while you’re making other plans. Perhaps we clarity as a most, or among the most observant of that day by day. I found this book, intelligent, disturbing, and true.

Historia
Inheriting your uncle's supervillain business is more complicated than you might think. Particularly when you discover who's running the place. Charlie's life is going nowhere fast. A divorced substitute teacher living with his cat in a house his siblings want to sell, all he wants is to open a pub downtown, if only the bank will approve his loan. Then his long-lost uncle Jake dies and leaves his supervillain business (complete with island volcano lair) to Charlie. But becoming a supervillain isn't all giant laser death rays and lava pits.

The brilliant performance of the narrator.
Revisado: 01-28-24
The narrator of this story sounded like someone you would like to know and have a good friend. there are people I would recommend this book to, but I don't know if it would read so well if you were reading your own book. the performance of this narrator was so compelling that I watched it. Read it to the end even though it's not at all. My type of story. I don't care for fantasy, but this one won me over in the person of Charlie.

Historia
This is a tale of murder. Or maybe that’s not quite true. At its heart, it’s a love story, isn’t it? Lana Farrar is a reclusive ex-movie star and one of the most famous women in the world. Every year, she invites her closest friends to escape the English weather and spend Easter on her idyllic private Greek island.

Historia
Assistant District Attorney Butch Karp is finally recognized for his heroic service to New York City when a group of politicians back him for the top job as Manhattan's district attorney. But a series of cases involving vigilante murders begins to reveal the true motives of those civil servants standing by his side. It's Karp versus the dirty city in one of Tanenbaum's most revealing and caustic legal thrillers - a stunning indictment of civil corruption and overreach.

reliably good read
Revisado: 08-01-21
this is my third time through the Tannenbaum series. I read it once every decade whether I need it or not. great characters complex and interesting in the first 10 novels until the co-author dropped away. this audible version has only one, Marlene's voice. Marlene is a strong pushy even aggressive person and the performer on the reading has her talking in this little girl voice it always jokes me a little to hear Marlene speaking in a little girl voice. but I keep listening because I am such a fan of this series and I can refine her bellow to a Italian scream in my own head instead of the whiny little voice the actor gives her. this particular novel is when it really starts to get good my love of these characters and their lives as they unfold over many years. it's like a visit with friends.

Ghostwriter Michael Gruber left after RESOLVED. Ten volumes brethtakingly complex. Post-Gruber, complexity disappears. Sad loss.
