Historia
The daughter of a Legion war hero, fighting was in Andien Broxin's blood. But the battles Republic marines face on strange and alien worlds are a far cry from the vaunted, brutal, no-holds-barred conflicts fought at the edge of the galaxy by the elite legionnaires. Until a devastating war erupts right in the Republic’s stellar backyard. Newly stationed on a mid-core planet being harassed by terrorist revolutionaries, Andien and her fellow “hullbusters” find themselves right in the middle of a desperate fight for survival.

Historia
Across the country women are being murdered by a killer who leaves no evidence, no fatal wounds, no signs of struggle, and no clues to a motive. They are, truly, perfect crimes. In fact, the only thing that links the victims is the man they all knew: Jack Reacher.

I missed this one.
Revisado: 10-12-19
I’m a Jack Reacher fan and enjoy Lee Child’s books. I tend to listen to “book series” in order. Somehow I missed this book. This book is different than most of the Jack Reacher series. In this book he is not as independent than most of the others. I actually found it interesting. I did not enjoy the narrator performance. His main narrative was ok, but some of his “other” voices are a bit irritating.
He does do an excellent job portraying most of the FBI agents as hateful, annoying, and petty. So much so, it affects the believability of the story. I can say I grew to hate most of the those characters.
Overall I enjoyed the story and glad I happen upon it. It’s like seeing a episode of one of your favorite tv shows you never saw before.
Definitely worth the time.

Historia
Dale Maharidge’s father, like many World War II veterans, never talked about “the good war”. There was just one clue to his dad’s experience as a US Marine - a portrait with a close friend that hung permanently in their home. In The Dead Drink First, Dale, now a Pulitzer Prize-winning author, recounts his 18-year quest to find and repatriate the missing remains of his dad’s buddy, Herman Walter Mulligan, 73 years after he was killed in action.

Great book....
Revisado: 06-26-19
Really, “Great Book”.... Yes, I thought this was s great book. Maybe because it hit close to home. I can related to the authors situation growing up in a home of a WWII veteran dealing with issues from war trauma. I learn a lot about the causes and physical and emotional struggles of these veterans.
It’s also rewarding to hear what the author went through to identify and bring home one of WWII’s unknown soldiers and what it meant to his family.
I you like to thank the author and his team for going above and beyond in their quest.

Historia
Herman Wouk's sweeping epic of World War II, which begins with The Winds of War and continues here in War and Remembrance, stands as the crowning achievement of one of America's most celebrated storytellers. Like no other books about the war, Wouk's spellbinding narrative captures the tide of global events - and all the drama, romance, heroism, and tragedy of World War II - as it immerses us in the lives of a single American family drawn into the very center of the war's maelstrom.

Outstanding work
Revisado: 12-01-18
Rarely I take the time to write a review. But “War and Remembrance” along with it’s companion prequel “Winds of War” are outstanding works. You can tell a ton of research went into both books. I related to the characters both good and bad. To undertake the shear scope of on one of these book is a amazing in itself, let alone doing two books of this length. Then to make the books interesting and entertaining, the author knocks it out of the park.
The author does a great job on the technical aspects of the war and paints a vivid picture of the human and inhuman acts of the war.
I wish there was a third book continuing to tell the tale of the “Henry” family after the war.

Historia
Four days before Christmas in 1943, a badly damaged American bomber struggled to fly over wartime Germany. At its controls was a 21-year-old pilot. Half his crew lay wounded or dead. It was their first mission. Suddenly a sleek, dark shape pulled up on the bomber’s tail - a German Messerschmitt fighter. Worse, the German pilot was an ace, a man able to destroy the American bomber with the squeeze of a trigger.
