Historia
Douglas W. Tallamy's first book, Bringing Nature Home, awakened thousands of individuals to an urgent situation: wildlife populations are in decline because the native plants they depend on are fast disappearing. His solution? Plant more natives. In this new book, Tallamy takes the next step and outlines his vision for a grassroots approach to conservation.

Historia
In the spring of 2020, COVID-19 arrived in New York City. Before long, America’s largest metropolis was at war against a virus that mercilessly swept through its five boroughs. In The Desperate Hours, award-winning journalist Marie Brenner, having been granted unprecedented 18-month access to the entire New York-Presbyterian hospital system, tells the story of the doctors, nurses, residents, researchers, and suppliers who tried to save lives across Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn and the northern periphery of the city.

Everyone should listen to this book to know what happened and what could happen again if we don’t value Public Health.

Historia
For 18 years I've suffered at the hands of the Hunters. They've done their best to break me, to tear me open and unleash the terrifying monster that lives within. Until the day they go too far. When a desperate escape leads to another brush with death, I'm forced to place my trust in the hands of four formidable strangers. Wild and untamed, their feral natures call to me, their warrior hearts make mine come alive. And when they offer me a place to stay while I heal, I can't say no. But the secrets I carry are deadly, and my past is a twisted, evil nightmare better left forgotten.

The story doesn’t progress
Revisado: 09-03-20
The girl doesn’t communicate her fears which is almost understandable and the guys are the opposite of what an abused person should be exposed to. How she doesn’t put her monster together with them being Lucas is beyond me. It seemed like a very long story with no movement.
The narrator was excellent.

In the year 2047, neural implants have given a small slice of the population superhuman abilities. Are these Aeons brilliant humanitarians dedicated to saving civilization, or venal psychopaths bent on its destruction?

a good story ruined
Revisado: 11-20-15
What would have made False Idols better?
This is a good story with an intriguing plot, but the narration and editing have ruined it.
What didn’t you like about Adam Zens’s performance?
It sounded like the book was being read by a text to voice program, with lack of pauses for punctuation and mispronounced or oddly intonated words. I don't see how any editor or producer could have listened to this and thought, yes, that's what I want. If this is some experimental computer program it failed.

Historia
Matt, a shy but engaging and resourceful student, discovers that his recently deceased father was involved in research that could enable the construction of the world's first conscious machine. Matt's enquiries lead to him being kidnapped, as he is caught in the crossfire between two groups pursuing that goal - one led by a Russian billionaire and another backed by the US military. Matt has to do more than simply survive. He has to harness these powerful forces to his own ends, and his life as well as his family's is at stake.

not well written or read
Revisado: 08-27-15
What would have made Pandora's Brain better?
dialog that actually sounded like people speaking not the stilted, overly formal style used.
Would you ever listen to anything by Calum Chace again?
not likely
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Joe Hempel?
Anyone that would even attempt an English accent. The book is set in England, with English characters, yet the narrator didn't even try to give them an authentic voice.
Any additional comments?
The whole story was contrived and preachy, the situations that Matt finds himself in are unbelievable and the characters are flat with no emotion and very little color.

Historia
Holly is just your typical college student. She goes to classes during the day and spends her nights either hanging out with friends or wasting an embarrassing amount of time on social networking. Her life is ordinary, nothing interesting or extravagant. That is - until she meets Luke. This enigmatic and on-the-verge-of-stalker guy brings excitement into her dull, routine life, introducing her to a world outside of her own... A world of magic... A world called Terre.

wow, really?
Revisado: 01-08-15
Would you try another book from Sara Daniell and/or Jessica McEvoy?
No.
Would you ever listen to anything by Sara Daniell again?
This book reads like it was written by a teenage girl, the plot is unbelievable and the main characters are one dimensional and annoying. They seem to fall from one contrived crisis into another, their reactions go from one extreme to the other all the time making little sense. I wonder if this book was even edited, there is little continuity and it's difficult to tell when the characters switch from an inner dialog to spoken words.
What about Jessica McEvoy’s performance did you like?
It was difficult to tell when the narrator switched characters, she voiced them all exactly the same.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
dissapointment.
