Everyone Sounds Old
Revisado: 07-07-24
I enjoyed the story, but the climatic scene was over so fast, it was disappointing.
The difficult part was the narrator. Great voice for all the older cowboys, but even the young men sounded old. When he did the voices of women, they all sounded like older high-pitched men. He read very well but his voice does not lend to young men or women. I had a hard time listening to that for the whole story.

Historia
Four days before Christmas in 1943, a badly damaged American bomber struggled to fly over wartime Germany. At its controls was a 21-year-old pilot. Half his crew lay wounded or dead. It was their first mission. Suddenly a sleek, dark shape pulled up on the bomber’s tail - a German Messerschmitt fighter. Worse, the German pilot was an ace, a man able to destroy the American bomber with the squeeze of a trigger.

Amazing story!
Revisado: 01-06-23
Since I was a boy I've been in love with world war II fighter aircraft. Reading the stories of the men who flew them has always been a great interest of mine. It didn't really expect to find such a wealth of new information.
I learned a lot, and greatly appreciate the story told from a German fighter pilots perspective.
If you have an interest at all in air combat and the stories behind those that fly, you will thoroughly enjoy this book.

Historia
It has been 20 years since the end of the war. The dictatorial Augurs, once thought of almost as gods, were overthrown and wiped out during the conflict, their much-feared powers mysteriously failing them. Those who had ruled under them, men and women with a lesser ability known as the Gift, avoided the Augurs' fate only by submitting themselves to the rebellion's Four Tenets.

Tough on Audible.
Revisado: 08-10-22
The narrator was amazing, one of my favorites. His voices with all the different characters was one of the best I've heard.
This novel has a ton of characters and it was difficult to follow on audible. I got lost a few times with all the different names of characters and places.
Multiple plot lines, twists, and unknowns concerning the characters. It would have been a much better read in hand versus listening to it on audible because you could flip back and see who was who.
Just a personal preference, I prefer to know who the bad guys are and who the good guys are and let it play out from there. This book leaves you questioning who was on what side.

Historia
Who am I? My name is Christy Snow. I'm 17 and I'm about to die. I'm buried in a coffin under tons of concrete. No one knows where I am. My heart sounds like a monster with clobber feet, running straight toward me. I'm lying on my back, soaked with sweat from the hair on my head to the soles of my feet. My hands and feet won't stop shaking. Some will say that I'm not really here. Some will say I'm delusional. Some will say that I don t even exist. But who are they? I'm the one buried in a grave.

Revisado: 08-20-21
Almost didn't finish it. 95% dark, semi-satisfying ending. I've read a lot of Ted Decker books and this is by far my least favorite. dark, depressing, disturbing, nightmarish, I really didn't care for it.

Revisado: 02-17-21
It was okay, held my attention through most of the book.
The marrator made little or no attempt to change his voice for the various characters. Though I don't think that's necessary, some narrators are really good at it.
