Historia
When Amos Decker is called to South Florida to investigate a double homicide, the case appears straightforward: A federal judge and her bodyguard have been found dead, the judge’s face sporting a blindfold with two eye holes crudely cut out, a clear sign that she’d made one too many enemies over her years on the bench. What at first seems cut and dry is anything but: Not only did the judge have more enemies than Decker can count—from violent gang members, drug dealers, and smugglers to a resentful ex-husband—but the bodyguard presents additional conundrums that muddy the waters even further.

Good book
Revisado: 02-01-23
This was a great story if the author would just leave out the vulgar cuss words especially taking God’s name in vain. I know that he uses it to paint a picture of the characters but it really isn’t necessary.

Clean suspense about my city
Revisado: 09-17-17
I really enjoyed listening to this book. For one thing, it was set in my city. And while I thought I knew a lot about Denver. But I learned a lot about the city from the book. Now I will need to go exploring. I would say the author is a very good researcher.
Also, I was happy to enjoy the story and the characters since, I knew there wasn’t going to be and rough language or bad scenes. The story was suspenseful and held my interest. While I listened, I think the book would be very readable.
I was provided a copy of the book. The review comments are my own.

Before he was considered a CIA superagent, before he was thought of as a terrorist's worst nightmare, and before he was both loathed and admired by the politicians on Capitol Hill, Mitch Rapp was a gifted college athlete without a care in the world...and then tragedy struck.

Good but not great.
Revisado: 06-25-12
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I have read all of Vince Flynn's books and this one was okay. After knowing all all of Rapp's history, it was hard to go back to the beginning and keep my interest. I will still keep listening to Rapp books and hopefully the next one will be more interesting.

Too much bad language
Revisado: 12-06-11
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Was thinking this might be a good holiday mystery but just too much bad language for me to continue that didn't make the reading experience pleasurable.

Not one of my favorites
Revisado: 08-15-09
The Deep Black series attracted me because of the action. This one spends too much time with longwinded explanations, especially about global warming. And I was really unhappy with the turn of events early in the book. Maybe they are trying to go in a new direction with a new co-author. But it has probably lost me as a reader of the series.

A Flat Ending
Revisado: 11-24-08
There was just no originality at the end of this book. After some of the earlier suspense, I was hoping for a twist at the end and it just didn't happen. I was so disappointed.

The idea is exciting but the plot and characters are hard to follow in audio format. Clearly the author is knowledgable in art but not so cleaver at book writing.
