Cher is the one and only
Revisado: 12-12-24
Cher is an icon, a Diva, one of the most influential entertainers of our time. I was just a little younger than her when Sonny and Cher burst onto the music scene. She broke every mold. Part 1 takes us through her early years and marriages. I cannot wait for part 2.

Cyril was an open book
Revisado: 08-25-24
Being a Pittsburgh resident, I met Cyril Wecht on many numerous occasions. He would not have ever remembered meeting me, but I do know his son, Ben. Cyril Wecht was brilliant. He was an honest man of high integrity. He only spoke truth. He was the target of political persecution for no reason other than he was respected and an easy target to take down. But I will go to my grave knowing that I was privileged to have lived at a time when Cyril Wecht was doing his part to make sure that the truth was revealed.

Spellbinding
Revisado: 08-10-24
I watched the first lunar landing in my living room as a 13 year old child. This book takes you into the training simulators, into the space capsules and onto the surface of the moon. I couldn’t put it down and I was sorry when the narrative ended. Bronson Pinchot was absolutely the best person to narrate this book. His performance was shear perfection!

Historia
On October 1, 1993, a 12-year-old girl was kidnapped at knifepoint from her bedroom in Petaluma, California, during a sleepover with two friends, while her mother slept soundly in the room next door. This rarest of all kidnappings—a stranger abduction from the home—triggered one of the largest manhunts in FBI history. New York Times bestselling author Kim Cross has written the first comprehensive account of what happened on that fateful night in October, as well as how the case forever transformed the Bureau’s approach to solving crimes.

Historia
Patric Gagne realized she made others uncomfortable before she started kindergarten. Something about her caused people to react in a way she didn’t understand. She suspected it was because she didn’t feel things the way other kids did. Emotions like fear, guilt, and empathy eluded her. For the most part, she felt nothing. And she didn’t like the way that “nothing” felt.

Revisado: 05-20-24
The author tries to justify all of the horrible things she does. It is disconcerting that she is proud of how her lack of empathy allows her to commit crimes and use people.

A living legend
Revisado: 12-27-23
This world is a better place because of the talent of Barbra Streisand. I have followed her life and career since I was a little girl. I remember seeing her guest appearance on Judy Garland’s television special. This memoir provides the back story of every benchmark of her amazing life, from Broadway to every movie she produced, starred in and directed. Listening to her read the book in her own voice, with excerpts also sung by her, just enriches the story beyond measure.

Powerfull
Revisado: 10-21-23
This is an incredibly powerful story. I knew another survivor and this lends credence to his memories. Instead of being banned, historically accurate books about man’s inhumanity to man should be taught in every school so that children can learn that the greatest wounds we endure are those inflicted by others because of what we are.

Historia
The first story Selma Blair Beitner ever heard about herself is that she was a mean, mean baby. With her mouth pulled in a perpetual snarl and a head so furry it had to be rubbed to make way for her forehead, Selma spent years living up to her terrible reputation: biting her sisters, lying spontaneously, getting drunk from Passover wine at the age of seven, and behaving dramatically so that she would be the center of attention. In a memoir that is as wildly funny as it is emotionally shattering, Blair tells the captivating story of growing up and finding her truth.

I’m biased
Revisado: 10-07-22
I got this book because I thought it would be the inspirational story of how she is thriving even though she has MS. Instead, much of the story is about how much she drinks and smokes. She went to rehab numerous times but falls “off the wagon” at the drop of a hat. I wanted to admire her, but this book does not leave a favorable impression.
