Historia
After receiving a most unexpected personal invitation for a weekend of leisure and celebration, Miss Victoria Parker leaves London for the country seat of the Duke of Everton. Although unsure as to why a lowly spinster such as she would be invited anywhere by a duke, Victoria's trusted assistant, James Kensington, assures her it must concern her late father’s accounting firm, which she secretly runs.

Beware of False Reviews...save your credit
Revisado: 11-07-21
I purchased this book based on the interesting description and the good reviews. Unfortunately it is poorly written and insipidly narrated. I was so disappointed that I came back to re-read the reviews and realized the majority had received the book for free in exchange for a review. I’ll be sure to keep a close eye out for that in the future.

Historia
Following Jane from her childhood as an orphan in Northern England through her experience as a governess at Thornfield Hall, Charlotte Brontë's Gothic classic is an early exploration of women's independence in the mid-19th century and the pervasive societal challenges women had to endure. At Thornfield, Jane meets the complex and mysterious Mr. Rochester, with whom she shares a complicated relationship that ultimately forces her to reconcile the conflicting passions of romantic love and religious piety.

Historia
The letter came in secret, with a pearl eardrop from an aunt long thought dead, resurrecting the forbidden past. Banished by her spiteful half sister, Queen Mary, to Hatfield House in the English countryside, 25-year-old Princess Elizabeth cannot refuse the summons. The Boleyns are in grave danger. And Elizabeth, daughter of Anne Boleyn, is marked for death by a master poisoner whose reign of terror may have royal sanction.

This series deserves better narration
Revisado: 07-05-13
I enjoyed Karen Harper's writing style and her grasp of this period of English history. The story and character development were engaging. But I agree with another reviewer's observation that Katherine Kellgren wasn't the right person to narrate. (I do have another series narrated by Ms. Kellgren for which she was better suited.)
The story held my interest enough for me to finish, but would love to experience it in the future with a better narrator. I believe this series by Karen Harper deserves the skill set of someone like Nadia May, Kate Reading or Davina Porter.
