Historia
Sous chef Aimee Tierney has the perfect recipe for the perfect life: marry her childhood sweetheart, raise a family, and buy out her parents’ restaurant. But when her fiancé, James Donato, vanishes in a boating accident, her well-baked future is swept out to sea. Instead of walking down the aisle on their wedding day, Aimee is at James’s funeral - a funeral that leaves her more unsettled than at peace.

Terrible! I couldn't finish it
Revisado: 08-22-17
The story was convoluted and unbelievable. The writing and character dialogue rivaled a really bad made-for-TV movie. I kept hoping it would get better but it just got worse as the plot unfolded.

Historia
Fifteen months ago Detective Lindsay Boxer's life was perfect - she had a beautiful child and a doting husband, Joe, who helped her catch a criminal who'd brazenly detonated a bomb in downtown San Francisco, killing 25 people. But Joe wasn't everything that Lindsay thought he was, and she's still reeling from his betrayal as a wave of mysterious and possibly unnatural heart attacks claims seemingly unrelated victims across San Francisco.

Somewhat disappointed
Revisado: 06-23-17
This book seems to lack the quality, character stories and excitement of the other books in the series. It's kind of a lazy book almost pushed out just to get the next book done.

Historia
A decade ago, kidnappers grabbed two boys from wealthy families and demanded ransom, then went silent. No trace of the boys ever surfaced. For 10 years their families have been left with nothing but painful memories and a quiet desperation for the day that has finally, miraculously arrived: Myron Bolitar and his friend Win believe they have located one of the boys, now a teenager. Where has he been for 10 years, and what does he know about the day, more than half a life ago, when he was taken?

Not one of Harlan Coben's best
Revisado: 05-30-17
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
The story is not one of Harlan Coben's best. That happens from time to time. The narrator for this audiobook was all wrong in my opinon. I had to force myself to finish the book. Even then I didn't listen to the last half hour. I couldn't do it anymore.
Would you be willing to try another book from Harlan Coben? Why or why not?
Yes, I generally like Harlan Coben's work.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
I couldn't stay focused on the book. My mind kept wandering. I found him to be very boring to listen to.

Historia
When you listen to Lily and the Octopus, you will be taken on an unforgettable ride. The magic of this novel is in the listening, and we don't want to spoil it by giving away too many details. We can tell you that this is a story about that special someone: the one you trust, the one you can't live without. For Ted Flask, that someone special is his aging companion, Lily, who happens to be a dog.

If you love a dog, or have ever loved a dog, you must read this book. I laughed, cried, laughed some more and shed much eye rain. Now I need to go hug my dog and never let her go.

Good, not great
Revisado: 07-12-16
Is there anything you would change about this book?
The narrator, Jonathan Yen, was terrible ... I found his voice made the characters unlikable. His rendition of women is horrible, making every woman sound like a whiny brainless twit. I should have read this in book form rather than listen to the audiobook.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
The ending is very disappointing.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
No.
Any additional comments?
Not nearly as good as "The Life We Bury". It wasn't a bad story but it could have had a stronger ending.
