Historia
Andrew Yancy—late of the Miami Police and soon-to-be-late of the Monroe County sheriff’s office—has a human arm in his freezer. There’s a logical (Hiaasenian) explanation for that, but not for how and why it parted from its shadowy owner. Yancy thinks the boating-accident/shark-luncheon explanation is full of holes, and if he can prove murder, the sheriff might rescue him from his grisly Health Inspector gig (it’s not called the roach patrol for nothing).

Historia
World War II tail gunner Gene Moran fell four miles through the sky without a parachute and lived. Captured by the Germans, he survived a harrowing eighteen months as a prisoner of war, including a six-hundred-mile death march in 1945 across Central Europe. When Gene returned home, he kept those memories locked up for nearly seventy years. His nine children knew little of their dad's war story. But when John, a young history teacher, learns of Gene's amazing fall, he's desperate to learn more. Finally, Gene agrees.

Great book with a fast pace!
Revisado: 12-06-21
The book was really good and I really enjoyed listening to it. I had to use a dictionary at times to keep up with it. Its true Katie is a wordsmith. I am almost jealous at how well she is able to get her message across in the simplest of terms but make it sound like a million bucks. I did get teared up when she talked about her family.
I am confused about her view on men. Men who are misogynist and womanizers are not ok, but boorish behavior towards women is ok? I guess its the Howard Stern friendship that has me asking that question. I stopped listening to Stern based on how he treated women. In my opinion, Stern is a big phony and speaks out of both sides of his mouth and no one in the media calls him out on it. So how in the world could she become dinner party friends with a man like that and then glance over it in a tell all book?

Traumatized by the bombing of Dresden at the time he had been imprisoned, Pilgrim drifts through all events and history, sometimes deeply implicated, sometimes a witness. He is surrounded by Vonnegut's usual large cast of continuing characters (notably here the hack science fiction writer Kilgore Trout and the alien Tralfamadorians, who oversee his life and remind him constantly that there is no causation, no order, no motive to existence).

Alot of stats.

It was hard keeping track of all the names of the mob guys. I kind of felt like I should have been writing down the numbers in case I was tested later on them. I liked the book because I am from Illinois and it helped me understand why the state is the way it is when it comes to corruption.

The narrator does a great job. The subject matter plugs alot of wholes in history for me. I hate how it makes killing so hohum but it is fascinating how the mob assassinates a person. I took a shower after finishing this book.
