Historia
Corin Cadence finally has a firm reason to believe his brother, Tristan, is still alive. Unfortunately, finding more information isn’t going to be easy. Tristan appears to be entangled with a clandestine organization that calls themselves Whispers. And Corin’s last brush with the Whispers didn’t exactly end well. As much as he wants to follow that lead, Corin has more pressing problems to deal with.

The author tries awfully hard to be hip and modern

After a solid first book this one is disappointing.
Revisado: 11-23-24
The book is too preachy. It feels like DA:Veilguard, where the social justice fighting is getting out of hand and destroys immersion.
The first book was relatively subtle and felt organic, while this one starts with an unfunny summary continues rather weakly and quickly evolves in a class about they and themses. I wish the author wouldn't insult our intelligence and could do this less handfisted.

When Mallon the Undying threatened the land years ago, the elves stopped him - and then disappeared. Now Mallon's followers seek to bring him back to finish what he started. Only the Keepers - storytellers, historians, and magic-wielders - are left to stand against them. Alaric, who betrayed everything he believed to save his wife - and still failed. Will, a storyteller who’s convinced his weak magic makes him useless. And Sini, a former slave girl with unimaginable power but no way to wield it.

Simplisticly written, but enjoyable
Revisado: 05-10-24
There isn't much depth to it and the end of the three books are always somewhat unsatisfactory and disappointing. Still, it's an enjoyable listen. Stuff is happening and the characters aren't really offensively annoying. If the author ever moves away from stereotypical fantasy and gives the characters more room to breath and to interact in a more meaningful and based way, there could be some real gem waiting for us someday.
It's okay.

First interesting trilogy disappoints.
Revisado: 10-22-23
The first book made me curious for more. Sadly the story becomes an overcrowded shallow mess. After the first book the story feels like reading a telephone book of Gods written for teenagers and in the third part it completely devolves into a fever dream or childish fan fiction.
There was obviously a lot of thought put into the universe. If only the pacing stayed slow and the presentation was more in depth and personal. Why did it end up being "and then and then and then" story telling?

Historia
Infused with magic, shadows and starlight, the powerful godblades were believed to be lost nearly half a millennia ago, when the Godswar ended. Now, however, one has been found by the unlikeliest of wielders: Sampson Gaard, a blind but ambitious prince with something to prove. The only question is whether he controls the blade or the blade him. With an insidious evil lurking in the shadows, the answer may very well determine the fate of all Kingfall.

Its whineyness hurts a otherwise interesting story
Revisado: 08-28-22
It has some good writing passages in it and the story itself could be great. Sadly it's being held back by either too good or too bad characters and it's way too melodramatic. Some parts are like a soap opera and are just annoying. This book had me roll my eyes many times. The narrator tried his best, but also went a bit overboard every now and then.

Pay to win
Revisado: 03-27-22
It's an entertaining story and it's written well enough, but I dislike the passages, where it's like reading a game manual. There are also too many stats for my taste. And it's a bit too campy.
The narrator is doing a good job.

Historia
Some say that to change the world you must first burn it down. Now that belief will be tested in the crucible of revolution: the Breakers and Burners have seized the levers of power, the smoke of riots has replaced the smog of industry and all must submit to the wisdom of crowds. With nothing left to lose, Citizen Brock is determined to become a new hero for the new age, while Citizeness Savine must turn her talents from profit to survival before she can claw her way to redemption. Orso will find that when the world is turned upside down, no one is lower than a monarch.

Good book, but could have been better.
Revisado: 10-01-21
It's worth a read or a listen, but the author is getting too predictable. These books are just history repeating itself over and over and over again.
I was hoping for my favorite character to finally be a shining beacon of hope, but of course that wouldn't be gritty and realistic enough. So we're getting more disappointment and nothingness. It's hard for me to stay with characters and a world, where nothing matters and all goes down the drain. It really loses all appeal for me, if there is nothing and no one to root for.

Springtime in Styria. And that means war. There have been nineteen years of blood. The ruthless Grand Duke Orso is locked in a vicious struggle with the squabbling League of Eight, and between them they have bled the land white. While armies march, heads roll and cities burn, behind the scenes bankers, priests and older, darker powers play a deadly game to choose who will be king.

Not as good, as the first books
Revisado: 08-20-21
Too many coincidences, inconsequential story telling, no one to root for, too many sex scenes in too much detail and too nihilistic for my taste. After the first good books this is definetly a let down.

Wonderfully entertaining
Revisado: 07-30-21
Though the start wasn't bad, I had to warm up to the book a bit. Soon I wouldn't stop listening to it. It's rather well written, the characters are interesting and the story has been unfolding nicely and I'm very curious as of how it's going to continue. Splendid piece of work. The narration is also very well done.

But even at this westernmost edge of civilization, they can’t rest for long - and are soon back to what they do best: stealing from the undeserving rich and pocketing the proceeds for themselves. This time, however, they have targeted the grandest prize of all: the Sinspire, the most exclusive and heavily guarded gambling house in the world.

Historia
They say that the Thorn of Camorr can beat anyone in a fight. They say he steals from the rich and gives to the poor. They say he's part man, part myth, and mostly street-corner rumor. And they are wrong on every count. Only averagely tall, slender, and god-awful with a sword, Locke Lamora is the fabled Thorn, and the greatest weapons at his disposal are his wit and cunning. He steals from the rich - they're the only ones worth stealing from - but the poor can go steal for themselves.

Sophisticated and vulgar... It's great!
Revisado: 07-15-21
This audio book is well narrated, the story is captivating and I like the characters. It's not a typical fantasy story, as it's more about heists, than adventures or exploration. I recommend it, if you can handle "foul" language. To me it makes sense that street kids and their peers talk in such a manner.
