Narration was perfect. The book kept me enraptured through the entire thing, and the ending gave Lex and Scarlet everything that I ever wanted for them.

There is no way in Hades that this was written by Terry Brooks. It should probably be classified as YA Romance. It was fine until the middle where it started dragging on with internal dialogue about whether her love is reciprocated and blathers about her feelings (I thought I bought a fantasy novel). After about four hours of that self-discovery, they insert a goblin attack that lasts about a minute (not kidding). Then its more whiney self-discovery and "I have to know even if I kills everyone around me." By the end, I wanted to slap her and tell her to grow up. If you want fantasy, this isn't it. It's chaste romance with the occasional reminder that the good guys are tree-dwelling fey.

Wrong narrator. She could not lower her voice enough to portray the men, which most of the characters were.
If all the knowledge Mary needed are ancestral memories, why were they dormant until the elf showed up? She would have realized her "doodles" were really memories when some of them randomly worked
They never talk about how she was raised, only that she ran with the carnival for a while.
A dwarf and a high elf? Both species would feel that match is gross. Especially the dwarves.
I couldn't finish it. Two stars because it's just cruel to leave an author one. This book was horrible.

This book is hilarious. It is also the most disgusting thing I have ever read. We've all been in a spot when we need a bathroom above all else, and he describes the pain, suffering and obstacles of trying to get that 20 feet to the door. When he gets to the bathroom and the real events begin, you will either vomit or laugh until you can't laugh anymore. Maybe you'll do both. Seriously, if you don't have a strong stomach, don't read this. If you do, you'll laugh your butt off.

Third grade reading skills mixed with talk about puberty. The sentences were short with a few complicated words thrown in, and too easy for the age it is directed toward. Its dumbed down to the point of being insulting.

I can't rate the narrator because she might just be working with what little she had.

The book was very well written. The author was good with visual descriptions and brought out the personalities of the characters. I didn't connect with them, but I understood them. The story flowed well and there were no lulls at all.

There are biblical references, and the author makes sure that the reader knows the lead character is a Christian. It's not enough to be annoying, but it's there. There is also mention of someone proudly wearing a Trump MAGA shirt, which got an eye-roll from me.

My only beef was the female lead. She's dead weight and she'd be the first person I'd ditch in an apocalypse. What she did to get away from the bad guys...it just makes her a bad person in general. She's not the type of person you risk everything for.

Narration was well done. I'd be pleased to hear more books read by him.

REAL Synopsis: The characters are a team that play a video game professionally. They have one more game in a championship tournament, but one of their crew goes missing. It's not like her to go offline, so they take a road trip to go find her.

The story has nothing else to do with VR/ RPG's, Only the first and last ten minutes are of them playing the game (something akin to Warcraft + Capture the Flag + Minecraft), If you're looking for Ender's Game or Ready Player One, move on.

I hated this book. After five hours I finally realized the biggest problem is the narrator. He sounds like my favorite great-uncle doing an impression of Ben Stein. Don't get me wrong, he has a pleasant voice... but he shouldn't be doing adventure novels. He'd be great at a self-help book that did not require a lot of inflection of his voice. It's hard to get excited about something being read in monotone. I made it through all eleven hours, but it can only be summarized as grueling.

Some of the events in the story were so ridiculous that I started analyzing the author, trying to figure out how a person could be so far out of touch with the culture they're writing about. Situations in the book are extremely unrealistic. Examples:
**Spoilers**
A person gets out of a car during a traffic stop (despite an officer yelling not to and pointing a gun at them) and then mopes about the result. They aren't scared, or angry at perceived injustice, nor are they willing to admit that their actions were incredibly stupid. Obviously they were arrested, but the judge sets bail for them at a million dollars. Yes, a million dollars. The worst of it was that NONE of the characters know why and from whom they're running until about three minutes before the book ends. (Usually the "why" helps move the story along).
*End spoilers*

First, I want to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the novel. I listened to some of it while in a dentist's chair and it was enough to hold my attention all the way through two fillings. The world is painted out so well that I was able to visualize the scenery. I'm not in the slightest bit creative, so that's quite a feat. ;)

I didn't realize that this is YA fiction and wouldn't have chosen it if I had. Like most books in the genre, there is a supercharged female that ends up hiding behind a male. (Literally, Nivian hid behind a man. Twice.) She's meek throughout the book and it gets frustrating at times because she is CENTURIES old. If she were a real person, I would have shaken her. (Like I said, it's a genre issue and probably always will be.) It's frustrating that she doesn't always stand up for herself, but... awww... he's protecting his love. ;)

The narrator is soft spoken, which is appropriate for the character. She does a very good job of changing her voice/accent so that you can differentiate as to who is speaking. There was one part that I was especially impressed with, where she was able to exclaim something without being loud. I don't know how she did it, but it was very well done.

As I said before, I liked it but YA books aren't my thing. The Hunted books will be comparable to Kelley Armstrong's Darkest Powers series when Nivian gets some self-confidence. The Reapers is a really good read, but it doesn't challenge the mind very much.

I loved this book because the scenario is possible. An EMP in this situation would indeed mean the end of life as we know it. How would our society act if we had to resort to life without electronics? I was able to connect with the characters and felt myself taking their actions personally (they either ticked me off or I was relieved when they did something I approved of). There are lots of surprises, both good and bad. The book is the perfect length to cover the plot, so I did not get bored at all.

My only issue is that I HATE cliffhangers, and it ended abruptly. About ten minutes before it ended I was thinking, "how is the author going to wrap this up?". Which was funny, because I didn't check to see how long I had left in the book. I wasn't happy about how the end was done, but I still look forward to the next book in the series.
