Losing their appeal!

I used to love this series. but the last few books have not been funny or very exciting....just a lot of talking. And the main characters are becoming one dimensional; there is no growth, they can be judgemental , and are becoming boringly repetitive. I've read Jana DeLeon is struggling with health problems; perhaps she isn't writing the books herself and is farming them out?

Another hit!!

I thought this book started off trite and I was disappointed and not sure I wanted to hear more. However, now that I finished the story I realize the beginning was a much needed, although unrealized by me, breath of fresh air into the series. And although Gertie and Co. isn't quite as laugh out loud funny as the start of the series, the depth of the mystery in this book is much deeper than those from the beginning. I began to get really drawn into the story by the 3rd/4th chapters and it was all more intriguing as the story progressed. It is truly another hit!! And the surprise at the end sets up the next book so well.... I can't wait for it to come out!
Overall, the series has gone from light funny mystery romp to a deeper well developed story with character growth and real life believability.

I've never listened to or read a Craig Schaefer book but Wow is this a fantastic book! Great characters, great storyline, perfect finish. Grab this book.... you won't be disappointed! Susannah Jones did a terrific job narrating as well.

Cute dogs and a decent story

This is the 2nd book of this series and it has a pretty cute story line. But the narrator isn't very good; the southern accent is horrible, some voices sound alike and can be grating to the ears. Nonetheless, the dogs and storyline are enough to make up for the narration....at least for the first 2 books. But I think the poor narration could be a deal closer for many... and might be for me to after this book.

Jane Fonda is wonderful, Don Katz horrible

Don Katz is so absolutely horrible to listen to. Poor Jane! She must have wanted to scream listening to his horrible questions, monotone voice and his rambling. One star for Don Katz! Five for Jane!

Unlikely Sappy and Perfect

Just like my title says, the story is unlikely, sappy, and for me, perfect. No fighting, no emotionally difficult events, just sweet and loving.

Just not impressed

I've tried to enjoy Mark Twain's stories but I just cannot . The overall story isn't bad but I just can't get passed Twain's drawn out wordiness, the racial descriptors, etc... Plus, the narrators in this version are not very good.

Good but Not the Best of the Series

I love this series and listen to it over and over. I enjoyed this new book but it isn't one of the best in the series. It feels like someone else wrote the book; almost formulaic in its use of the characters and plot. I read that Jana is sick. Perhaps she needed some help to get this book out and continue the series. I am so happy this series continues on and will gratefully accept a 4 star book to get more of these wonderful characters! My FAV series! My best wishes for good health to Jana! 🙂

simplistic and somewhat religious

This story is very simplistic and is somewhat told from a religious point of view. Perhaps interesting for a first introduction to history.

Beautiful, Sweet, Full of Heart and even funny

I wasn't sure I would like this story. The title didn't grab me and it started kinda slow. But quickly it became a journey I joined the author on . The story is beautifully written, laugh out loud funny at times and by the end, a deep awakening of things I haven't quite grasped about life yet, even at 58. This is a story to listen to over and over. Loved it!!
