Historia
Renée Ballard and the LAPD’s Open-Unsolved Unit get a hot shot DNA connection between a recently arrested man and a serial rapist and murderer who went quiet twenty years ago. The arrested man is only twenty-four, so the genetic link must be familial: His father was the Pillowcase Rapist, responsible for a five-year reign of terror in the city of angels. But when Ballard and her team move in on their suspect, they encounter a baffling web of secrets and legal hurdles. Meanwhile, Ballard’s badge, gun, and ID are stolen.

Boring
Revisado: 10-22-24
I'm five chapters in and it's very slow. The dialogue is weak. I usually love Connelly's stuff but this is meh.

Historia
Seth Hubbard is a wealthy man dying of lung cancer. He trusts no one. Before he hangs himself from a sycamore tree, Hubbard leaves a new, handwritten, will. It is an act that drags his adult children, his Black maid, and Jake into a conflict as riveting and dramatic as the murder trial that made Brigance one of Ford County's most notorious citizens, just three years earlier. The second will raises far more questions than it answers. Why would Hubbard leave nearly all of his fortune to his maid? Had chemotherapy and painkillers affected his ability to think clearly?

boring and full of pointless descriptions
Revisado: 03-26-21
this whole book feels contrived it is full of the author's self-indulgent descriptions, which ended up being so irritating. it's sounds as though she was trying for an artsy style. I was disappointed because I liked her other book, distress signals.

Historia
It was the deal of the decade, if not the century. A small, insignificant company on the edge of bankruptcy had discovered an alchemist's dream; a miraculous polymer, that when coated on any vehicle, was the equivalent of 30 inches of steel. With bloody conflicts surging in Iraq and Afghanistan, the polymer promises to save thousands of lives and change the course of both wars.

Ripped off Grisham's plot lines
Revisado: 03-17-21
If you've read Runaway Jury by john Grisham or seen the movie, you'll know exactly how this turns out. Secret lovers avenge the death of a family member caused by the corruption and greedy of an industry. The lovers achieve revenge against one key industry player and then convey a message to the other: "we're not going anywhere, we're watching you.." Unfortunately, Haig is no Grisham, and I feel cheated out of a credit.
