Inspiring
Revisado: 10-20-20
I felt that this book was made 10 times better by the fact that Elizabeth Warren narrated it herself. Not only is she a wonderful reader and public speaker, but her words sound so much more passionate when they come straight from her- throughout the book, you can really feel the most outrageous things she talks about, as well as joys and sorrows from the stories she tells.

Entertaining and informative
Revisado: 10-14-20
At times the recording could be difficult to hear unless the volume was turned up quite high, but this seemed like a small price to pay since they included actual audio of her speaking many, many times. Further, the author went into tremendous detail on each point she brought up about the path that lead to RBG on the Supreme Court, which, because it was so important, didn’t at all seem redundant. However, if you’re looking for an easy biography of this great lady, this isn’t it.

"True belonging doesn't require us to change who we are. It requires us to be who we are." Social scientist Brené Brown, PhD, LMSW, has sparked a global conversation about the experiences that bring meaning to our lives - experiences of courage, vulnerability, love, belonging, shame, and empathy. In Braving the Wilderness, Brown redefines what it means to truly belong in an age of increased polarization.

Historia
Canadians fell in love with Pierre Elliott Trudeau’s beautiful and high-spirited bride when he brought her to the world stage as the youngest First Lady in the history of the country. But the situation wasn’t as rosy as it seemed. Plagued by mood swings and unprepared for public life, Margaret became increasingly isolated at 24 Sussex, as her depression alternated with bouts of mania. As her behavior became more puzzling - even to Margaret herself - she did her best to mother her three young sons.

Important storyline
Revisado: 04-13-20
I found this book deeply moving and truly inspiring. Hearing her story of her struggle with bipolar disorder changed the way I thought about mental illness.
That being said, the narrator is so bad I had to force myself to keep going back to this book. If I could do it again, I’d just read it instead of listening.

Historia
Little black dresses. Fake pearls. Jersey knit. Blazers. Ballet flats. Today - and for nearly the last hundred years - we all see some version of Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel every time we pass a woman on the street. But few among us realize that Chanel’s role in the events of the twentieth century was as pervasive as her influence on fashion, or how deeply she absorbed and then brilliantly reimagined the historical currents around her.

Good, for the most part.
Revisado: 04-05-20
I enjoyed the ideas laid out in this book quite a lot, and it delves a great deal into Chanel’s personal life. However, if you’re looking for something that talks about her business, what really made Chanel, this isn’t it. There was a great deal I wish she’d talked more about, including her business rivals, especially Schiaparelli.

Historia
Margaret Trudeau, former wife of Pierre Trudeau, 15th Prime Minister of Canada, mother of Justin Trudeau, Canada's current Prime Minister, and international mental health advocate, brought her intimate staged performance, Certain Woman of an Age, to the Minetta Lane Theatre, where it was recorded live for Audible Theater. In this "fearless and vulnerable" (Chicago Tribune) one-woman show, Trudeau opens up - with refreshing candor - about her extraordinary life and her encounters with some of the most important icons of our time.

Historia
Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, Tara Westover was seventeen the first time she set foot in a classroom. Her family was so isolated from mainstream society that there was no one to ensure the children received an education, and no one to intervene when one of Tara’s older brothers became violent. When another brother got himself into college, Tara decided to try a new kind of life. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge University.
