Boring plot. 2-d characters, Simplistic vocabulary. Author gets a pat on the head for checking all the woke, social 'justice' boxes. overlooked a LOT through first book but 1/4 way through the second book and find I don't care who killed the guy or why. I can't waste 1 more second on this garbage. Save yourselves...this is NOT the book you're looking for!

First of all, the author needs to learn the difference between 'infer' and 'imply'. Secondly, the narrator needs to learn the correct way to pronounce 'macabre' and 'daiquiri'. Thirdly, I am sick to death of authors who feel the need to pause the story so they can interject a public service announcement

So BORING! The plot is simplistic. I knew how it was gonna end before the end of the first page. The characters spew nonsense and pretend its profound. And the main character hates herself, has serious codependency issues and substance abuse problems but all of that is solved through no effort of her own when she receives a windfall of money that is only there because of the psychological instability of her parents. 🤮

I don't like any of the characters and am certain within the first few chapters that I'm on the wrong side of the conflict. I'm pretty sure the griffin riders are the good guys and I'm already rooting for them to win the war and eliminate the barbaric dragon riders. This is no small feat as I am a dragon fan..

Disrespect of Amish is UN-Christian

I wish I could read a mystery story (or any story, for that matter)without being subjected to stereotyped characters and blatant disregard and disrespect of other cultures. Painting the Amish men as misogynistic bullies is not just tired as 3-day old french fries, it demonstrates a nearly narcissistic level of arrogance and egotism. The author beats you over the head and around the ears with the absolute certainty that ALL women of patriarchal cultures are merely prisoners awaiting rescue from the inherent subjugation of their foolish religious beliefs. 🙄 Clearly, it is the rightful place of all western women (this author seems to shout) to step-in to lead their little sisters to 'freedom'.

As aChristian woman, I'm insulted by the presumption that the choice to put my faith and life completely into God's Hands and to, therefore, obey God's Word, is because I'm too stupid to understand or that I'm somehow being forced to do so.

Please stop calling yourselves Christian in one breath and condemning Christian beliefs in the next. Done with this series; done with this author; done with Goodreads recommendations.

Saw the' 'Strangers on a Train' plot early. i was taken out of the story repeatedly by the tiresome 'all men are usekess, misogynistic brutes and women are better off on their own,' rhetoric. So sick of that noise. Thursday Murder Club is WAY better.
