I’ve been to both cities and I loved hearing about the history told throughout centuries through the stories of the glass maker. Brilliant!

Historia
When Chris McDougall agreed to take in a donkey from an animal hoarder, he thought it would be no harder than the rest of the adjustments he and his family had made after moving from Philadelphia to the heart of Pennsylvania Amish country. But when he arrived, Sherman was in such bad shape he could barely move, and his hair was coming out in clumps. Chris decided to undertake a radical rehabilitation program designed not only to heal Sherman's body but to heal his mind as well - and so Chris decided to teach Sherman how to run.

I’m so glad the author decided to share this remarkable story of Sherman and the wonderful people who helped him recover from his neglect and flourish in a good life with caring individuals and animal families. I highly recommend reading this.

A nostalgic look at 1972-75 Dairy Queen heydays.
Revisado: 08-07-23
I enjoyed this look back at southern small town life in 1972-75. I wanted a little lighter read for summer and some humor. This story has relatable characters who struggle with life’s challenges but with humor. It brought back memories of my own adolescence, and I confess that when I was near the end of the story, I had to make a trip to the nearby Dairy Queen for an ice cream dip cone!

It’s a great way to understand the progression of his career. Very personal, touching and inspiring.

The Yaga siblings—Bellatine, a young woodworker, and Isaac, a wayfaring street performer and con artist—have been estranged since childhood, separated both by resentment and by wide miles of American highway. Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

Historia
As a child growing up in North Korea, Hyeonseo Lee was one of millions trapped by a secretive and brutal communist regime. Her home on the border with China gave her some exposure to the world beyond the confines of the Hermit Kingdom and, as the famine of the 1990s struck, she began to wonder, question and realise that she had been brainwashed her entire life. Given the repression, poverty and starvation she witnessed surely her country could not be, as she had been told, 'the best on the planet'?
