Historia
The exciting conclusion to Jason Crane's Sleepy Hollow adventure! General of the Dead is an epic work capping the first Jason Crane trilogy. The first two novels, Rise Headless and Ride and Bridge of Bones were only a prelude to this extraordinary work spanning 300 years of true Tarrytown history, interwoven with the legends, myths, and superstitions of the Dutch settlers. Impeccably researched, with absolute fidelity to the modern village, its sights, places, and byways.

Another great installation of the series
Revisado: 02-02-24
This is a hefty book, but it’s really good and has great narration, storyline and pop culture references. I would say so far this one is my favorite followed by the second book. Can’t wait to start the fourth

Better than the first
Revisado: 11-20-23
I enjoyed the first installment but found it to not be super engaging and a little slow. I felt the premise was very interesting so decided to stick with the series. I’m glad I did. Book 2 is twice as long but, for me, far more interesting and kept my attention. Definitely more exciting scenes than book 1, and I’m looking forward to continuing the series. As with book 1, narration is fantastic

Good start to hopefully an even better series
Revisado: 11-05-23
I read countless raving reviews about this book/series so decided to give it a try! Some parts were slow to me and it was a challenge to keep up with the family tree at times, but overall this is a really interesting premise. I hope now that the scene is set that the remaining books in the series are more exciting. I felt much of the excitement didn’t come until final 2.5 hours or so. That being said, the narrator is EXCELLENT. One of the best I’ve heard on audible so far. I have high hopes for the rest of the book series so I’m going straight to the 2nd one now!

Go into it with no expectations
Revisado: 10-13-23
If you’re looking for a book version of the tv show, you will be disappointed. Going into this book, I knew it was much different than the series so I left my expectations at the door. It’s also not a “scary” horror book by 2023 standards. For it’s time, maybe. I’d categorize it as more psychological and a look inside the mind of the character from the original movie (no, not the Netflix show). Narrator did a great job. I felt the story itself could’ve used a bit more kick (such as more descriptive details) and found some of the dialogue lackluster- but again, this is an older book.

From the woman who is credited for launching what we know as the celebrity focused, “brand” driven, social media obsessed popular culture of today, comes an honest and surprising memoir that reckons with that truth, and shows that there is so much more to Paris Hilton than you might believe. This extended edition includes a bonus chapter detailing her motherhood journey.

Revisado: 10-03-23
This is an eye opening, engaging and moving read. Paris is well spoken and does a great job narrating her story. This book had me experiencing a wide range of emotions. Her story is so heartbreaking, but the way she rose from the ashes like a Phoenix is beyond inspiring. I definitely recommend this memoir.

Lost me in the end
Revisado: 09-26-23
Very interesting premise! I enjoyed most of the book but it lost me in the final quarter or so. I honestly couldn’t sum up the ending for you perfectly because my attention kept fading. Narrator was just ok - didn’t really do different voices or change his tone when something scary happened. Sometimes I would lose my attention for a few seconds and not even realize he was reading something that was supposed to make your skin crawl. Wish the ending was different but I will say, much like another review, that since starting it I’ve been half expecting to see a witch standing in my own home! So maybe the book did get me after all.

Historia
The tellers of Greek myths—historically men—have routinely sidelined the female characters. When they do take a larger role, women are often portrayed as monstrous, vengeful or just plain evil—like Pandora, the woman of eternal scorn and damnation whose curiosity is tasked with causing all the world’s suffering and wickedness when she opened that forbidden box. But, as Natalie Haynes reveals, in ancient Greek myths there was no box. It was a jar . . . which is far more likely to tip over.

Couldn’t put it down!
Revisado: 08-09-23
I’m not usually a non fiction reader but oh my goodness this book was incredible. Natalie Haynes does a fantastic job of widening our understanding of these popular Greek stories to include the very women they either demonize or purposefully leave out of their own stories. I could not put this down. It was very educational and I’ve been raving about it to my mom nonstop. Haynes kept my interest throughout each chapter and I am thankful to have a different POV for each of these stories.

Just ok, very slow
Revisado: 06-06-23
I thought this story had a lot of potential but it really didn’t grab my attention till over 4 hours in - felt like really nothing happened before then. The narrator was ok but many of the characters sounded exactly the same. Story became somewhat predictable really fast and still, felt like not much happened to get to where we got in the end.
